I had never filed a nut before. I was building a partscaster and needed to learn lol. I wanted something decent quality but I didn't want to pay SM prices, and the stuff at the online shopping extravaganza named after a major rainforest is all cheap garbage. I have used other Music Nomad products and liked them so went for this set of files. They are built pretty well and they seem to have taken into account many of the shortcomings of some of the other cheaper files. The file part itself is only a couple inches long. That way it won't bend when you are using it causing too wide of a slot and also won't drift down and accidently cut the first fret. The housing is small enough to easily use but still have a good grip. They come with a nice little box to put them in as well. I don't know what someone who does this for a living would think of these, but for an average player who needs a decent set of nut files I think these fit the bill quite nicely.

Musical Background:

Playing over 40 years and still plunking around in bands

Musical Style:

Classic Rock, Prog, CCM

This is my first set of “true” nut files. I’ve used needle files, welding tip cleaners, a fingernail file and other things in the past. Sometimes those cheap things worked but most of the time they fell far short, especially when working on a bone nut. This set from music nomad are easy to use and do the job quickly and efficiently.
