Its a lifer.
Sound
This little amp screams! I thought it would not be able to keep up with the rest of the band , but i was sooo wrong. Definately the best amp ive owned period!! I have a Mesa Boogie Stilleto trident, and could never get the sound i needed unless i was overpowering the band.Thats why i went to a 40 watt tube. And the sound is definately awesome at this level. Ive owned lots of different amps and dialing in when you get them can be frustrating!! But this amp was totally easy.I dont like buyimg amps that ive never played, but this was totally worth it!
Features
The features are pretty cool but i still will need pedals for the sounds i like. Im surprized this amp didnt come with a cover? Oh well it still rocks!!
Ease of Use
Dialing in was simple and not dramatic!!
Quality
Built very well!
Value
Ive spent thousands looking for this amp.

I have been using this amp on and off for about 6 months now. Let me tell you guitar players out there that every time I play through this Marshall Haze 40 I feel like a rock star. The clean channel is just great . This tube amp is punchy good old school rock & roll. I really like the pushed power tube sound. Kudos to the Marshall crew in India! I have fuzz / OD / Boost /pedals as well as delay vibe phasers. If you have stomp boxes like me the possibilities are endless. I have the 4 button footswitch but I usually just step on my stomp boxes for different drive tones. This amp takes pedals extremely well. Epiphone Les paul with P90s sounds very snarled. Just a great little package with that classic Marshall growl. As other reviewers have mentioned...the Stock Celestion 66 speaker sounds very good with this combo. I think Marshall nailed it with this Haze 40. EL34 tubes-40 watts- Classic Rock / Plexi tones-takes pedals well= what's not to like?I grew up in the 70s ..so my review is based on the music from my generation. This amp Rocks those tones and is easily accessible to the millennium.

"It's the real deal...Marshall sound in small package and no short cuts"
Verified Customer

This amp is a total keeper for me. I like to have a smaller rig to go to jams or rehearsals but still have plenty of headroom. I can carry this amp in one hand and the guitar bag on my shoulder. Also it fits perfectly in the truck of my car (middle size car).
Sound
The sound of the amp is versatile as the clean sounds sparkle and breakup channel is classic Marshall. I was worried that it was a cool toy and it's the real deal...all Marshall. Thru the 4-12 cab it was huge and plenty of power and head room. I rated it an 8 because you can buy stacks and have roadies do the work...that's a 10 with 4-12 cabs. For a combo 1-12 I rate it very stong and much better amp the Fender Hotrod Deluxe 1-12 (which I've also owned and gigged with extensively)
Features
I've been impressed with how the effects match up with the amp. I read negative reports before I bought the amp and I think the effects are awesome.
Only complaint is the 4 button floor footswitch isn't
Ease of Use
It's fast to learn.
Quality
So far so good. Everything seems solid and heavy duty.
Value
Compared with the other combo's in this price range it's a winner. Very articulate amp....very clear at the pick attack point. Fender Hotrod Deluxe has a much slower slew rate and is much saggier and sloppy.
Manufacturer Support
Again...no issues so far.
The Wow Factor
It's the real deal in a small package. I have a beautiful Mesa Nomad 45 and still had to have this Marshall. Gonna keep both of them and run them in stereo on the really good days !
With a good volume/stereo pedal you can "A"..."B"...or "Y" and have all the sounds individually or mix it together.

This is the combo amp I've been waiting for Marshall to put out. I would replace it in a heartbeat. It needs a metal pedal to go that way, and of course a wah wah and tuner to complete a basic rig for shows.
Sound
Sounds like a vintage Marshall in a small combo. The clean channel with the bright switch on sounds "Fender" clean. With the boost and bright switch engaged the clean channel is more intense and expressive. The OD channel sounds muddy by itself to me, but with the bright switch on it is heavenly. For Metal you would need a special pedal because it just won't go there on it's own, at least with single coils. The louder it gets the better sounding, and it gets loud!
Features
It does include a two button footswitch that allows you to change from clean to OD or turn the effect selected on or off. It's nice to not have to pay another $40 for that like Fender charges. The reverb is not the best but I'm not way into reverb except on the clean channel where it does a decent job. The effects could be better but are really pretty decent. Vintage sounding but not analog lush. The thing weighs quite a bit due to the heavy backboard and rear ports for the speaker. Speaker is of excellent quality so don't feel like you will have to swap it out. Tube tones, vintage look and sound, built in 70's effects. This is the amp Marshall should have made ten years ago and no one would have bought a blues junior again!
Ease of Use
Never had to look at the manual. Make sure all the input and output jacks are screwed on tight because mine weren't and there was some buzzing and scratching sounds at first. It should be lighter. Using something besides the heavy back panel would have been nice.
Quality
Just based on looks and performance I'd give it a ten but having been made in Indonesia time will tell if the wiring and components stand the test of time. Since it's new I'd take a back up to a gig. If it blows out at a jam or band practice I'd just go home early. With tubes though I'd always take a back up.
Value
It could cost less but the price is fair considering all the features, tubes, effects, vintage vibe, looks, and sound and included two button footswitch.
Manufacturer Support
I can't say. Have not tried to reach them for anything
The Wow Factor
It looks great and as I said Marshall should have made this amp ten years ago. Looks great in the living room, or at a gig.

Its Just a Good Sounding Amp that gives you that Marshall Sound
Sound
I am on the quest (as all guitar players are) for the holy grail of sounds, having tried a few other brands of amps I was looking to find something different. Well I was not disappointed, this being my first Marshall amp the cleans are clean and the distorted sounds are great, I have a Epiphone Slash Model guitar and it sounds Great matched with this amp.
Features
The features are good it comes with a 2 button foot switch, which I am going to upgrade to a four button footswitch and it does come with digital effects which are usable, not the greatest but usable, the effect I care for the least is the reverb not all the good, but all in all the effects are good.
Ease of Use
It is very easy to get different sounds with the way the amp is set up. There are boost buttons and the distortion channels and the effect, in most instances it is just a matter of adjusting volume and the amp responds.
Quality
Quality was good, my amp was a blemished model it gave me a scare when I ordered it, I wondered what could be considered a Blemish?? Marshall spelled wrong? a big gash is tolex? BUT, I COULD NOT FIND ANY DEFECTS OR BLEMISHES, (it may have been slightly used) EXCEPT the gold caps on 4 of the knobs were loose and when pulled they came off with very little effort, I went and brought some crazy glue and the problem was solved.
Amp seems to be well made!!
Value
As I said this was sold as a blemish and I got a SUPER DEAL, saved my self a few hundred bucks
Manufacturer Support
N/A so far so good
The Wow Factor
I played out with the amp and got good feed back from fellow musicians and some are thinking about purchasing the prodeuct as well.

I am a gig and sound hound. I have 15 amps and 22 guitars and basses. "Till the next train rolls along". I think Marshall has finely gotten pretty darn close to having the middle guy covered (local gigger and small to medium club size)
I was told by ZZ that I would not they would not receive it till June 15, I was pleasantly surprised when email said it would arrive 6-8-09 and here it is. Wish I had taken the bite for two day delivery. It sat in Jax Fl warehouse from Friday till today Monday. I had two gigs this weekend. Would love to have put it through the live paces.

Sound
Versatile and big. Much fun with little effort. Easy to create four distinct sounds.
Features
Easy and intuitive. Killer sounds with viewing the manual
Ease of Use
Can't get any easier.
Quality
I give it a seven. It is built well but pots are plastic shaft. Disappointing for the price. Time will tell as soon as I start hauling it around.
Value
Allot amp for the price.

"Overall, I would recommend this to a friend playing blues. This amp is not for metal but good enough for 80's rock. "
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
Most likely, I will purchase a Peavey 6505 or a Carvin V3. For the price range unless I can save up more then I'll go for a Mesa Boogie or Engl.
Sound
It depends what pickup you use as far as good sounding goes. I use Active EMG's and it sounds descent enough for blues but it really overwhelms the overall sound quality when boost is activated. As far as using passive pickups, I tried Dimarzio X2N and Seymour Duncan Invader and both weren't to impressive.
Features
Features is great with an exception of not having an option to use the footswitch for activating the boost on clean channel. I do like the memory in the effects section after setting your preference through the footswitch.
Ease of Use
Once you got yours dialed in it's flawless.
Quality
Marshall trademark even though this amp wasn't build in England the quality is good.
Value
should be around 500+ if this amp was made in England then the current price is appropriate.
Manufacturer Support
It's brand new so no need to call them yet, knock on wood.
The Wow Factor
It's Marshall what else can I say.

When I get my third replacement and If it works i plan to keep it for a while. I do like the tone it gives and its simple to use.
Sound
The sound quality is great only problem is that the OD Channel is not a crunchy as you would want it. Nothing you couldnt fix with od effect pedal.
Features
I wish it had more than just the chorus, reverb and delay.
Ease of Use
Simple to get started and jam.
Quality
Amp seems solid. There is a popping sound at times when switching channels though. No bueno for those who want to use this amp live. If its just for your in home play and you are willing to deal with a one sec pop its worth the wait.
Value
Not the best amp out there but it is a marshal which is why the price might be higher that what it should be. Still though it is a good amp and I dont know of many other amps that sound like this for this price.
Manufacturer Support
Ok so this is where marshal fails. First of all I had to used their support when I first got the amp out of the box. Something about these amps that the channels dont work like they should. Marshal took forever to get to back to me so I just decided to return it to zzounds.com. They are amazing with their returns 8/10. Returns are simple and quick.

I will be using this for quite a while.
Sound
This is a terrific, versatile little amp. Very nice cleans, nice crunch as well. Articulate, picks up a lot of the nuances of your playing. I went to the music store to demo a Mesa Lonestar head, but they only had the 2x12 combo. Great cleans but too heavy, and I didnt care for the crunch. Tried a bunch of other Mesa's but I have never been a big fan of the Mesa sound. Sorry Mesa guys. Too brittle for me. That being said money was not an issue. Salesman suggested I try this new Marshall, and I was very surprised. I must have played it for an hour and a half in the store, they had to move me to a back room because I cranked it up and put it through its paces, even had them roll in a 4x12 cab so I could see what it sounded like, and it was all good. I got a lot of compliments on the sounds when I came out of their "jam" room. The place was crowded and a lot of guitarists were in there, and couldn't believe this little amp for 700 bucks could sound like that. I took it home. Keep in mind, I am a semi professional so I have above average chops, but you still need to have good sounding gear to get the attention I received when playing through this little guy.
Features
The digital built in effects are very nice. Ignore the folks you hear turning their nose up at them and referring to their "boutique" pedals being so much better. Most of the folks that can afford that stuff can't play to save their soul, and probably have never gigged as a pro. I have been playing live gigs for 30 years, and in a pinch, could walk into a show with 1 guitar, 1 cord, and this amp and footswitch and sound fantastic. I even did a studio demo with this amp and it came out sounding awesome. Just me , my PRS , and this amp. No other signal processing. I even used the built in delay and it was beautiful. I only use the chorus or delay and the reverb , don't have much use for the "phase" or whatever they call it. 99.9% of the folks that will hear this amp will not know any better anyway, it will sound fine to them.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use and get good tones from. Folks that have left negative reviews on this most likely have not spent enough time to work with it. No it doesnt get every sound I'd like to have, but it covers a very wide range of tones.
Quality
so far so good.
Value
awesome bang for the buck. Great tube tone in a lightweight 700 dollar combo. Enough juice to run a 4x12 cab when it needs to. Great deal.
Manufacturer Support
giving marshall a ding here because the 4 button footswitch that was supposed to be available for this amp is still "backordered".
This will make the amp much more useful to me.
The Wow Factor
I'd rather have the controls on the front panel, makes it easier to tweak in live situations. Trying to change settings on the fly in a live setting can be a pain.

Sold this amp after 2 weeks.
Sound
So the gain channel to around 5-6 otherwise it's going to be muddy. Not a good choice of amp if you want a wide variety of sound settings. Very limited. However, the clean channel with the on board effects sounded sweet.
Features
If you are using the optional foot controller, you can designate each effect to a desired channel. But you can't use all the effects at once.
Ease of Use
A little difficult to dial the sound. Maybe because the size of this amp with a 12" speaker.
Quality
Made in China.
Value
Overpriced. C'mon this amp is made in China and if you want to control the effects via footswitch then you have to buy it separately.
Manufacturer Support
I didn't have the amp long enough to use them.
The Wow Factor
Looks great but sounds like a cheap tube amp. I would rather buy a Bugera 6262 or 333XL amp than this one.

Great amp overall. Love the tone just wish it was built a little better. Deffinatley a keeper and I probably wont sell it unless something alot better comes along. So far Im satisfied.
Sound
I love the classic tube tone you get out of the amp. The more you crank it the better it sounds. Great for classic rock and anything else Ive used it for. The only problem is it is a little short on the distortion end if you want to play hard rock but a distortion pedal fixes that easily. All in all a great sounding amp!
Features
All the effects sounds good to me but I dont use them very often besides reverb wich sounds good. Not as good as a good effect pedal but good enough for me. I like the 2 button footswitch, the 4 button is good but takes a little messing with sometimes. Overall great features.
Ease of Use
Easy to use and figure out. Basic stuff, nothing confusing.
Quality
I have had the amp for 5 months now and have already broken one peg off and busted a corner protector. No clue how I broke either of them, but easy enough to replace.
Value
If it got stolen I would buy another one for sure.
Manufacturer Support
I have had defective amps from marshall before that I have gotten replaced pretty easily. No problems with the haze though.

I expect to pass this thing down to my children when I'm gone. I'm going to take good care of this amp. In the event of catastrophic damage due to unforeseen events, I will gladly purchase another take good care of it and pass THAT one down to my children! Seriously it's worth more than what I bought it for!
Sound
I love the tone on this amp I've had it for almost a year now. And I absolutely adore it. Me being a huge AC/DC fan and an owner of a Gibson SG Standard, combined with this amp's all tube tone and power, I'm playing all my favorite licks with a big smile on my face.
Features
The versatility of this amp is insane! From crystal clear to gritty growl at the push of a button! Plus a selection of three effects built in. I don't really use them, but they are there if you need them.
Ease of Use
Nothing too complicated in turning knobs, flicking switches, and pushing buttons.
A half an hour of the above and you're the master of it! However it's always best to read the manual first so you get a hold of what exactly this baby can do!
Quality
Rugged build. Signature Marshall look and feel. What can I say it's a Bloody Marshall baby ya!
Value
Everybody wants one! You'll want one too! 40watts, all tube tone, Marshall, what more can I say?
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had a problem with it yet, so I'll assume the service is great!

I just got a new one...fresh out of the box......Sounded great....effects were wonderful except......seems no one did a final test on this one.....a capicitor on the bass knob/pot crackled when I added even a little bass.....I'll have to assume cheap parts.....
I am sending it back and I re-reordered another one....now the problem is Zzounds doesn't have any more so I have to wait another month for the next shipment......IMO this is defintely a Marshall quality control issue....
