I can say this first hand. I own a Marshall DSL 40C tube amp. I just never could get it to sound the way I wanted it to sound. Every time I turned it on, the tone was different. No matter what pedals I used. I even upgraded the speaker with a A Type Just couldn't get the sounds I needed. Finally I ordered one ot these 100HGFX heads. It sounds great with the 4x12 cabinet that's designed for it. But I already had a Marshall MX212AR Guitar Speaker Cabinet 2x12 cabinet that I had upgraded with a Celestion A Type, and a V Type. I am now running this 100 watt head with the 4x12 and a 2x12 side by side. This is everything I would have hoped for. Yes, this Solid State Marshall amp is exactly what you're looking for. Forget the negative crap you see out there. Those idiots are trying to run a tube amp on these custom voiced speakers designed for this amp. It will never work. Get this amp, along with the 4X12 cabinet designed for it. You will not be sorry.

The Marshall MG 100HGFX and 100FX Amps i have to be much more reliable than any Tube Amp They produce any Tone a Tube Amp does and More this Notion that Tube Amps are superior over Solid State..is simply False especially over the Past 25 years..the solid state produces everything a Tube does with out any failures..this Marshall MG Series and other Marshall MG Series Amps are truly remarkable

Shame on you Marshall... Gig ready.. NOT.. Plug and play.. NOT.. Instructions NOT.. User friendly NOT.. I've had this head for about three weeks and I'm still fiddling for that Awesome Marshall sound.. Their is one guy on the net that shows a video of him playing and I see him pushing a button and I look real close and it says " Store ".. So I've got some of the settings close... But No Banana.. Pedal Friendly YES... I put an Over drive called Hot Plexi and it got the sound I had with my Marshall 1959 I used to have... Guys ( MARSHALL ) I ordered a modeling amp.. and that's what I was expecting .. Something like other amps I've had that show the knobs go and have an Idea of what your sound is going to be.. ( INSTRUCTIONS ).. zZounds.. Your da Best.. I always get my gear from you..

"Back up amp"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

I purchased this amp head as a backup head for my JVM. It seems like a tight little unit, it will work good if the JVM ever goes down. I've yet to plug it up and try it out cause my speaker cabinets are in the band room, but I'm sure that it will work as a backup amp in a pinch. Once I hook it up tomorrow at band practice, I'll submit another review of how it sounds.
