I'm 62 years old and have been playing for 50 years . Unfortunately I had to stop playing for the last 2 due to wrist pain which was from excessive playing, which needed time to heal and made me sell all of my gear . So last week, I decided it was time to get back into it and decided to just go with acoustic and I have always wanted a Martin but, did not have the big bucks for for a USA made one. So after researching, I decided on this one and am glad that I made the purchase . Even though it's all HPL with a stratabond neck, the tone from this is all 100% Martin .It stays in tune forever and the added gig bag is extremely well made along with being a huge plus . My only gripe was that the action is a bit high but, sanding down the saddle a bit took care of that, and I also ordered a truss wrench from Martin's site as well, so problem solved. The Black Satin Finish is beautiful and means that I won't have to spend any coin on polish or lemon oil for the neck as well , thanks to the stratabond neck. These made in Mexico X series are a great deal for the guitarist like myself who is on a limited budget who has always wanted a Martin.

I bought one about six months ago... it's a great guitar, I enjoy every minute I spend with it. However, before you miss it (or misunderstand) like I did, the laminate top sounds very different than what you get from a wood top guitar. For durability, look, feel... all great. But, if you are interested in percussive acoustic guitar, the laminate is not great for that. On the other hand, if you're a finger picker or want to learn finger picking, this guitar is tough to beat. Overall, five stars... acoustically, it gets a 4 for sound just because it's a little odd, to me... this is a unique instrument and very enjoyable to spend time with!
Sound
The sound quality is great but it's different than what you get from a wood top acoustic guitar.
Features
All of the components of the guitar are useful... no complaints there.
Ease of Use
It's very playable with little learning curve for even intermediate players. One thing I really like about it is that you can run size 10 strings on it and it still sounds amazing. I run size 10-47 Elixirs on mine.
Quality
It's a well built product... very solid and one that I don't get squirrly about traveling with. The laminate top is very tough and scuff/scratch resistance. I don't feel like I have to baby it is as much.
Value
I think the $599 price tag is legit on this guitar... especially with the very nice gig back that it comes with.
Manufacturer Support
I've never spoken to Martin directly so I cannot comment on their service.
The Wow Factor
It's a Martin... tough to beat a Martin guitar. I am glad it's part of my collection, this will be a forever guitar for me.

I bought this as a porch guitar as I didn’t want to expose my D28 to the outdoor salt air. Definitely has the Martin sound, which is surprising since it’s primarily made of HPL (think Formica countertop). Cleans up in a quick minute using a lint free soft cloth dampened with water. You can use something stronger, but no cleaners with Citrus. This guitar is not indestructible, as there is wood bracing inside. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for something more durable.
