I intended this to be a backup for my Martin M-36. I didn’t expect it to be in same league as a standard series Martin. Well let me tell you... I was pleasantly surprised! This guitar, despite its lower price, holds its own with the M-36. It’s a true Martin through and through. It won’t give you the booming bass of a Dreadnaught, but it’s not intended to. It’s a very versatile all around guitar... great for finger style as well as strumming. The controls are very intuitive and the Fishman system sounds great through my Fishman Loudbox mini. A built-in tuner would be a nice edition, but it’s not a deal breaker for me (I deducted one star in the features category due to the lack of a built-in tuner). I would like to see a hard case included, but the “soft case” as Martin describes it, is very nice... not your typical gig bag. Overall, I’d say this guitar is a great value and you definitely get a lot of bang for you buck with the Martin GPC-16e. Buy this guitar!

I purchased this approximately a year ago, and am extremely happy with the guitar. Initial set up was ok, but not great. After about 6 months after acclimating to the environment the guitar was nearly unplayable. I took it in for a setup and wow did it come alive. Although you don't get as much low end like a jumbo or dreadnought, it delivers lush tone while fingerpicking. The electronics are clear and crisp through my genz benz and other acoustic amps. I would agree with the other reviews that an inboard tuner and a hard shell case would have been nice. Still an incredible sounding guitar.
