The Martin dx2e mahagony has the DNA of higher end Martin's. Compared to Taylor's 114e, Takamine gd and gn series the Yamahas, Ibanez Artwoods, the Alvarez Masterworks, the Martin was the one to lay down my green on. I have the Martin dx1e koa but it lacked a solid top and the volume suffered. However, the tone on it is full on Martin. So I bought the solid topped dx2e mahagony and it's love at first "play". Nice bright treble. Enough bottom end to satisfy me and the volume I was seeking. It is easy to recommend this guitar. The feel and playability is substantial. It looks great. You can gig with it for sure. Martin puts their name on their least priced guitars unlike Gibson. Martin makes guitars at the base entry level with their name on the headstock. Trickle down lutherie at its best.

Got this instrument two weeks ago. Workmanship is pure Martin everything is impeccable. No issues with finish or fit. Best part is really sounds like a Martin and feels as good as my higher end Martin guitars. The guitar itself is not too big or too small, it's right in the middle and very comfortable to play. Action and setup out of the box is perfect no adjustments needed. Just sit down and play. zZounds makes it easy to get new instruments with their payment plans and ships in a couple of days. Nice job!
Sound
Guitar responds quickly and fretboard is pretty fast for an acoustic guitar. Wood is also pretty percussive as well.
Features
Woods used do not feel cheap. The guitar is perfect for Florida weather as well. It holds up under humid conditions.
Ease of Use
You can get many tones out of this instrument just play with it for a bit. Depending where you pick it at and how you set the tones on your amp and guitar, you will have more than enough sounds to do gigs with.
Quality
Like my other Martin's this one is well made with nice feeling woods and fret ends are smooth as well as set up well out of the box. The rosette is even nice looking on this guitar.
Value
The price point of this guitar is right on. It is a good value for the money you spend on it.
Manufacturer Support
I have dealt with Martin guitars in the past and they are very helpful.
The Wow Factor
Everyone I play this for loves the tone and look of the guitar. Simplicity is a beautiful thing.

This guitar is pure Martin. Feel and sound are similar to my more expensive Martin guitars. Best of all it stays in tune even if left un-played for a couple weeks. Neck is super comfortable and action is fast. The guitar is all Martin and has the Martin Mojo. I was on the fence for a while but happy I pulled the trigger. Get one you won't be disappointed.
