I wanted a great sounding guitar. I can make one play great, but tone and volume are either there or it's not. I chose this guitar because of the torreified red spruce top, forward scalloped X bracing, and dovetail neck joint. If these are done right, you get a wonderful sounding, powerful guitar. I was amazed. It exceeded my expectations and hopes. It is a fairly plain looking guitar with the satin finish and only small top binding, but I wasn't concerned about the appearance as much as the tone. I actually like the satin finish and less binding. It just lets the quality. Of the woods and build stand on their own. I am more than happy with gen guitar and zZounds.
