"Sweet sound, easy action"
I'd have to buy used to replace it, so I would, but I don't expect to have to replace it. I'd still be looking at Martin or Taylor and dreadnoughts with satin finishes if I did.
Sound
The tone of this relatively inexpensive Martin Dreadnought is amazing. I've owned mine for 10 yrs and absolutely love it. Easy action, stays in tune. It's designed for light and medium gauge strings, just fyi. Works well if you like to tune lower and use a capo. Works well with your basic soundhole pickup for amplification. No buzz, smooth action, easy on the fingers... and ears.
Features
Limited to light and medium gauge strings. Not the highest end tuners, but I've had no issues in 10 yrs and I'm not a stickler for special care. Bought it with a good Martin hardshell case and have traveled the world with it without damage.
Quality
Sweet satin finish, seems to age well. After 10 yrs, still easy action. Tortoiseshell pick guard has protected the top well.
Value
Rave reviews if you look online and I would add mine to that. I'd buy another, except they've discontinued the model.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed to have customer support so I guess that says A LOT. I suspect Martin would stand behind it well... however, the model IS discontinued, not sure why. It gets rave reviews.
The Wow Factor
The sound is superb, especially for a solo artist. Sure, I'd love a Taylor or even a more expensive Martin, but for the money, this is awesome and I'd buy it again.

"A quality workhorse guitar. One that sounds good for the money and you're not afraid to play and have some fun with."
Satisfied:lifelong. Don't plan on replacing it. If lost, yes, I would replace it. Wish I knew how good it was before I bought it. I would have bought it sooner.
Sound
Great sound for a guitar, never mind the low price. Records very well. After seven years of playing, is producing a very nice mellow sound.
Features
No frills, but none needed.
Quality
Seven years, still going strong. I have other, more expensive Martins (D-35, OM-42) and of course they have more extras and better sound and tone, but you cannot beat this for the price. Go the extra couple of hundred rather then pay 3-4 hundred for a guitar that will sound cheap and dissapoint you. You will want to play this one.
Value
Can't find anything that compares at the price.
Manufacturer Support
Martins support is A-1. I had a question on a Sigma (bottom of the Martin line, no big bucks here) and they responded quickly with the information I asked plus more.
The Wow Factor
No sex appeal here. Just an outstanding everyday, leave it out to play whenever the mood strikes, get a ding and scratch, sit on the couch, have a beer, walk around the house driving the dog nuts type of guitar.

"Simple looking guitar with amazing sound. Great value for the money."
I plan on playing this guitar for many years.
Sound
Nice full sounding guitar when playing chords. Has plenty of bass and awesomem sounding highs. Harmonics are awesome up and down the neck. One of the best sounding guitars I have played.
Features
It's kind of a plain looking guitar but I didn't buy it because it looked pretty. I bought the guitar because it sounds awesome.
Ease of Use
This guitar is very easy to play up and down the neck and feels comfortable to hold and light weight.
Quality
Very well made instrument. Looks and feels like a guitar that I'll be playing for many years.
Value
Great value for the money. I do wish that it had more than just a satin finish. Is still a very nice guitar for the money and comes with a nice looking hardshell case.
Manufacturer Support
Martin is quick to respond to your questions. Top notch customer service.
The Wow Factor
Very plain and simple looking guitar. Not a bad looking guitar, would look a lot nicer with a gloss finish. You have to play this guitar to appreciate it.

Martin D-1 Acoustic Customer Review
Sound
True Story: I went into a guitar store, said I was going to get the Acoustic I wanted, no matter what the price was. The dealer had about 20 Martin's. I narrowed it down to three w/out ever asking price on any of the guitars. I ended up choosing THIS ONE based upon feel and tone. I was baffled by the price tag that came with it. The guitars that were my 2nd and 3rd choice were both over $2,000. I was amazed, confused, happily paid and got out the door w/case and random things for under $700.00. It was a really good day! I love this guitar.
Manufacturer Support
Dont know.
The Wow Factor
Every time I play it, it makes me happy.

"I love D-1"
I'm very happy with the purchase, the sound, the playability and the hardware. I just wish I would have tried the Taylor 200 series in the similar price range.
Sound
The sound is really good, balanced with decent bass response. Obviously doesn't compare to the more expensive Martins/Taylors. But, it did well compared to
a $2000 Gibson!
Features
The 'lack' of the fancy stuff doesn't bother me. However, compared to the Taylor 200 series, which has ebony fingerboard and saddle and is in the same class as the D-1, the D-1 falls short.
Quality
I haven't had any problems with ANYTHING. The tuners work well. The saddle is stable. The guitar stays in tune well. I can't complain.
Value
The Taylor 200 series may give this D-1 the run for the money.
Manufacturer Support
I didn't have issues to deal with their support team.
