Martin 000-16 StreetMaster Acoustic Guitar (with Gig Bag)

Isn't a broken-in pair of jeans just better in every way? The same goes for the Martin 000-16 StreetMaster acoustic, which feels played-in and ready to gig.

This is a sleeper. No bling. Not fancy. Reminds of muscle cars that looked ordinary and plain. But under the hood incredible horsepower that would make them masters of the street. That’s what this guitar is in every aspect a street master with tone, sustain and volume for its horse power under the hood! An American made hot rod at an affordable price and zZounds is the dealer of choice!

I have been on the hunt for the (one guitar) for some time now. I have traded and swapped roughly 10 guitars in the last three years. This particular guitar is a keeper! it is loud and rich. The size is extremely comfortable and it is a joy to play right out of the box. I do plan on getting it set up at my local luthier because the action on Martin’s comes a tad high for my taste. I am grateful for zZounds making this possible. I plan to continue to buy from this dealer.

Ordered this for no particular reason other than one of my 'acts' is a solo show where I play a train hopping hobo and get the audience to sing along with songs that have the word 'train' in it. ( You'd be amazed how many songs have that word in it). Anyway, I always felt that carrying and playing a Martin HD35 seemed unrealistic for the act. Enter the Martin 00016 Streetmaster: A possible perfect addition to my act. I admit when it arrived I was less than impressed with the 'aged' finish. It was kinda ugly and didn't look like a nearly $2000 guitar. It seemed on par price and quality wise with my Taylor GS Mini ( which I love) and that was only $600. But it was comfortable to play and sort of sounded like a Martin, but not quite. I looked at my wife and said this may the be the very first thing I ordered from zZounds that I send back. BUT>>> Wife liked the look and sound. So I noodled around with it for about an hour. Put it down. Found myself drawn back to it every ten minutes...by the end of the evening I was in love with the thing. I put on my 'Lonesome Sam' outfit, and played a short set for my wife, (who is my manager and booking agent for the act). She said the guitar was the 'finishing touch' for the act. How is the guitar itself? The fit and finish were flawless. The tone ( I guess the strings had to settle in a bit) opened up, and I was digging the satin finish. What I thought would be a return ended up being a 100% keeper for sure. Glad I allowed it to grow on me, although it was only a few hours old. As to the guitar itself, I could not find a flaw anywhere. Frets are nicely dressed, intonation was spot on, no buzzing, neck was straight and true, and did I mention the weight? When FedEx delivered the box it was so light I thought they delivered an empty box. The soft case is actually pretty nice too. More substantial than a gig bag, and nicely made. What was going to be a 'return' need up being a keeper that I am glad I let grow on me.

Tonal palette is excellent! I would recommend this guitar for playing classical, romantic, Baroque, Jazz and strumming all styles of music. Martin uses same wood quality that is on their standard series 28,35. Cost savings are no pick guard, no white binding or trim, CNC machine does the Dovetail construction instead by hand which CNC machine makes a more precise cutting and it has a soft case instead of hard case. I did buy Martin C330 hardshell case which Cost $300.00.

Musical Style:

Fingerstyle classical, romantic, Baroque and strumming Christian contemporary music.
