This is my first Martin purchase. Neck is a wide 1.75 but manageable. I like the 24.9 scale. Has nice projection and resonance. Does not get boomy like a dreadnought body shape. Granadillo back and sides sounds great. I see no issues. Neck has a soft V shape. It's very comfortable. Electronics also sound great. PLEK seemed to do a good job of making it playable out of the box. Frets are standard tiny vintage size Martin likes.I was able to put 10's tuned down a half step and still get no buzz.

Musical Background:

Playing electric since 1998, this is my first USA made acoustic.

Musical Style:

Pop, rock, blues

I have been lurking and looking for a Granadillo guitar even since Taylor did some ltds a few years ago. Have never been able to land a used one of those so when this model was released it peaked my interest. Taking a leap of faith and buying untested, I must admit its everything i hoped for!! Unbelievable sustain, overtones, great low end with still ringing top end. Very Rosewood like but maybe even more balanced with additional mid range. For a 000 its also very powerful and projects strongly.Guitar build quality is great , nice aesthetics to the top and a good grained piece of granadillo on the back. This being my first Martin, I am happy and impressed. Only ding I would give it/them is the action was pretty high from the factory @ 7/64. Having a fleet of some Taylors (along w/others), I feel like Taylor ships a much better set-up guitar. That being said, the frets were level and there was plenty of adjustment left in the truss rod and saddle to lower everything down to 5/64 and it now plays like butter. Feel like once i put my John Pearse Strings (vs coated lifespans) it sounds even stronger/better.This one model is definitely playing above its weight/cost class and a really keeper!

I am absolutely in love with this guitar. Everything is just perfect. The fit, finish, setup, tone, etc.... PERFECT. I used to own a Martin 000-28 and I swear this 000-16E is every bit it’s match. The wood grain and color of the Granadillo back and sides is very pretty. Granadillo sounds very similar to rosewood, by the way. The spruce top has some snazzy-looking figuring. The ebony fretboard is smooth and lovely. Perfect fretwork. This neck profile is sooooo comfy!! I’ve owned a bunch of guitar over the years, and this Martin is right at the top of the list.
Sound
Solid lows, pronounced mids, sparkly highs. Works equally well for strumming and finger style.
Ease of Use
Super-comfy neck profile. Plays like buttah.
Quality
Built like a Martin. Old-school craftsmanship at its finest.
Manufacturer Support
Martin customer service is a pleasure to deal with. Nice folks.
The Wow Factor
It’s beautiful, it plays like a dream, and it sounds glorious.
