Let me start off by saying I came from the Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen. I was having a problem not being able to hear out of the right side. I'm so glad I had that problem. I stumbled upon this sweet audio interface, and I'm like," Where have you been all of my life?" You have your visual eye candy to see your levels. The software.... performer lite Daw! I love it, and the sound is so so pleasing! I am able to pan hard left, and hard right and still get sound!!My favorite part of this baby you might add? Are there any samplers in the house? That's right, you can use this interface to record youtube right in the Performer Lite, { for personal use of course}. The rest of the software is mouth watering!Did I forget to mention that it has an on/ off switch in the back of the unit, and also mini in and out, and other ports on the back? This is the Motu M2, and I have to tell you, I can work this thing like I had it for many years.I'm a fan for life, and take away the price, and compare it to other units, Motu will still have more value hands down!!

"THIS WILL NOT BE GOING BACK"

Bought a pair of Focal Alpha 50s to go along with this interface. All I really knew was I needed XLR to male cables. I plugged the Alpha 50s into my Behringer UMC22 and hated the sound. I had done that because I thought the interface had a USB-C to USB-C cable. I was very close to returning the speakers. Then, I decided to open up the box and sure enough, USB-C to USB-A. Downloaded the drivers and holy crap, the speakers had the best sound I'd heard. The speakers weren't even broken in. I used to laugh at the latency on the Behringer. Now, I laugh at how low my latency is. I'm getting 8 ms at 256 samples at 96k (24 bit.) When I triple buffer in FL Studio, that only brings it up to 13 ms. The Motu drivers are ok, but the ASIO drivers are faster. I would never even bother recording with my old interface. If this interface is too slow for you, blame your CPU. Sound quality is literally unheard of. Music is so much more enjoyable now. This is a small price to hear music clearly. When Motu claims this is the best in class, they aren't just referring to the best $180 interface. I believe this is leagues ahead of most interfaces in terms of sound quality, even though I'm yet to hear anything more expensive than this. This is up-to-date with features, aside from inputs. The dynamic range is amazing. My Behringer had a really compressed sound when cranked. I don't need the inputs, as I don't use hardware. There is no put in having 12 inputs like on the Babyface Pro, just for "sound quality." Oh, and the meters! Warranty is 90 days. If this messes up within 45 days, it's going to Motu, not zZounds. I'm covered. If my Behringer could last a year and a half, I believe this should keep my sound clear for a few years. This is a no-brainer. Ableton Live Lite 10 means you will be able to make and record music by simply buying this. Not to mention the discount to upgrade. My only advice is to take breaks when using headphones. It would be easy to listen to a set for hours, at 100 db with this. Get lost in the clarity and protect your ears.Shoutout to zZounds for making gear affordable with payment plans. I only use the big online stores for reviews.

"The best audio interface at its price range"

I have a Scarlett Solo and it works great, but I took a chance on the MOTU M2 and I'm glad I did. The dual LED indicators are fantastic for balancing a min to a previous recording as the mic input shows on the left LED and the previous recording playback shows on the right LED, and this allows you to sync the loudness of the new recording with another recording. For the difference in money I wouldn't even think of the Scarlett or any other interface that is close to the same price.

"What can I say, it's an audio interface!"

This interface is quite comparable to the lower end Scarlett, Behringer, PreSonus, etc. lines. I bought this as an upgrade from a cheaper UMC22 for home recording, because that one only has 1 XLR and 1 instrument output (I wanted 2 combo jacks). I decided to be a bit of a hipster and go for the less-recommended option because I heard through the grapevine that these are pretty nice interfaces. What can I say, it's an interface. Works as intended! It ended up being a nice little upgrade to my home studio. It has good in-house developed drives, 2 XLR/Instrument combo jacks, and each input has it's own toggleable 48V switch. Has about the same sound and latency as all of the other interfaces at this price point (if not slightly better). I recommend it.

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sounds better than my brother's Presonus Audiobox 96, has lower latency, and also removed crackling and popping I was getting in Ableton, and lowered CPU usage significantly (20-50%). Very low latency overall, better than Focusrite or Presonus. High quality build and features a small screen for metering that other models don't have. Compared recordings of my bass vs the Presonus with same settings and this is much fuller and brighter. Very impressed with this unit. Also has midi which Focusrite lacks. If you're looking for a 2 input unit, just buy this one. I don't know if you could justify an $650 Apogee over this. Haven't had to deal with support yet.
