"Excellent MIDI Interface"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
– Midisport 4×4 (anniversary edition) is class compliant, it means there is no need to install any driver, it works in mac and windows, I have both 2×2 and 4×4 and all of them work perfect in catalina, monterey, windows 10, 11, is just plug and play. I use them with cubase, logic pro, garage band, sonar and ableton live, all tested ok.
- Midisport 2×2 has the merge function pressing the button included, but 4×4 has not this function, it only works as a midi interface connected to a computer and using the four ins and four outs available as midi ports in your daw.
Sound
Is a MIDI Interface, not a sound module
Features
Universal compatibility, just plug and play with any daw, win and mac, 4 separate ports for a total of 64 MIDI channels
Ease of Use
Simply to use, just connect to any available USB port in your computer, no external power needed
Quality
Built like a tank, steel made, not plastic, more than 15 years using this products and still working as new
Value
Still the best product to manage old gear like keyboards, sound modules or anything using 5 pins MIDI cables
Manufacturer Support
Is a legacy product, but no drivers are needed in order to work, that’s the best part, is class compliant
The Wow Factor
The product is perfect if you only need a MIDI interface to handle lots of MIDI channels and you have a separate audio interface. Is easy to connect, no drivers are needed, no external power supply needed, well made in metal, top quality.

"toxic asset."

Sound
it is a midi router. it doesn't rout anything. if you hook it up to a basic sequence it will fail. you can't play a simple melody on a keyboard without overloading it. it is a worthless piece of trash and i too, like the other reviewer of the other model of m-audio midisport 4x4 feel ripped off.
Features
it is useless. it is a failed experiment. it is a chinese toy. are there any features i wish it had? oh yeah, i wish it ROUTED MIDI!
Ease of Use
there is absolutely no way to use this machine in any practical way for a pro or amateur.
Quality
toy - worse than a toy - a broken toy. it doesn't do anything.
Value
don't buy it. it contains toxic metals which you have to go out of your way to dispose of responsibly. you can't even throw it in the garbage!
The Wow Factor
"i don't want it"

"Useless garbage."

Broken. After receiving enough MIDI commands the channel it received them on stops working. It takes about 90 seconds of double-bass foot action, or four seconds of CC value sweeps, to knock out a channel that way. it's useless and I feel ripped off. I'm buying a MOTU to replace it right now.

M-Audio Midisport 4x4 AE Customer Review

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars

After owning the original version of this device for several years, I can no longer use it. Not because it's broken, but because M-Audio refuses to release 64 bit drivers for it. I also find it interesting that the new "Anniversary Model" has 64 bit support.
