The Monosynth probably competes with Korg’s Volca line, but it a completely different Beast than the Volcas, although share some limitations. The Craft synth has a powerful and unique sound. The interface like the Volcas is small and obscure. The keyboard, well you want to midi this to a controller of some sort because of the small Volca like pads. I read the instructions, but forgot the order of switching through patches. But it’s easy enough ro figure out with some experimentation. The sounds are complex, pretty unique and a real bargain. This is a very useful unit and I will certainly use it in the studio. Live: not so much with the fussy interface. The knobs enable you to create or edit patches easily and quickly. Plus Modal has the parameters set out in an easy to use three rows of knobs. Build Quality is on a par with the Volca line, altough the Craft seems a little more delicate. 1/8th inch in/out and headphones. Overall, the Craft is an outstanding value. It has the sound engine of a far more expensive digital synth. If you are a Volca freak it may be a very useful, unique sounding addition to your gear. I have a lot of synths and this little Bugger is a keeper. Going forward I will likely use this for those odd little sounds that you can have pop in a song. (If you are looking for hum drum piano/organ the Craft may not be your machine.). It’s great for a wash like that or transitional moments in a song. It also has an arppegiator that sounds great, but haven’t messed with it yet. I am now lusting after other Modal products now. It is not helping my gear addiction, lol.
