"great for the price, but know what your getting."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Sound
the bass on this sub is surprisingly tight for an 18 inch sub, yet will reach the basement also. the digital amp is 1000watt PEAK, around 600RMS. it hits hard all night long, all in all a very good sub for the price. actually, not a bad sub for several hundred more. is it going to rattle your teeth out? no. but, if you are setting up a full system, like mine(2 of these subs and 2 srm450's) you will definitely feel it in your chest. I use this system as a DJ rig, and have done parties up to 500 people with it. complements all around, many specifically about the bass produced(in a club setting)
Features
its a sub, it goes boom. just as expected. I run out the full range outputs, but the crossover outs work very nice if you wish to use them.
Ease of Use
plug it in, set the knob at "12 oclock" and go.
Quality
solid piece, well constructed... with one issue.. and that is mentioned in the previous review. I have heard several of these and it has been a bit of a mixed bag, some rattle, others dont. I have discussed this directly with both a mackie rep, and with the factory. they are WELL aware of the issue. part of the issue is user error(this is where you need to read your user manuals folks). most people just crank the amp all the way up. this is not intended with this unit. the box is pretty happy at unity gain(again, read you manuals) and is punchy and clean. if you crank it all the way up, it tends to rattle. now, this is a simple issue to fix with a little bit of dynomat placed strategically on the inside of the mounting bracket for the amp, but it really needs to be addressed by Mackie. my understanding from conversations I have had is that the issue is being addressed at the factory level(hey, it is made in china) my 2 do not have this issue. I guess I got lucky.
Value
for the price, you really cant beat it.

"Best Bang for Buck Powered Sub."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Verified Purchaser zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
size to power and weight ratio, I'm happy.
Sound
Sound is good for the size of enclosure, weight and price. 500 Watts RMS power is good for small gigs. I am using this with 2 Behringer B212D 2 way 12" powered speakers and this system rocks. I could comfortably compare this to the Matrix 2000 at $1000 cheaper.
Features
I gave this a low rating as I would prefer to have a variable crossover, but it works at 125hz. I plan on getting a Driverack PX to control the Freq's.
Ease of Use
True Plug and Play.
Quality
seems to be clean.
Value
Best Bang for buck.
Manufacturer Support
CS from this company is hurting. This is coming from a Product Support Specialist where customer service is numero uno.
The Wow Factor
It's good.

"Mackie Thump TH-18"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The back panel on this sub rattles worse than a trunk on a lowrider, rattles so loud that it can be herd over the sub and mains. The effects create a rumble thru the speaker with nothing pluged in at all. I received this brand new in the box last week and Mackie says I have to travel 60 miles to a repair center for repair, so a F- for customer service. I do not recomend this sub at any price
Sound
terrible, the back panel rattles and the whole unit rumbles with no signal being put to it
Features
no
Ease of Use
impossible
Quality
no, I cant believe Mackie engineered something this poor
Value
What good is it at any price?
Manufacturer Support
They were easy to reach, but they expect you to drive 60 miles to the nearest repair center to have a brand new in the box speaker repaired
