We've been in the music biz since 1981, have seen a gazzilion products come and go over the years,so we can attest to Mackie's commitment to making good gear. The new ProFX 12v3 w/ONYX preamps and USB interface provides everything a working musician needs, including FX. While the AD/DA conversion isn't RME quality, it does provide excellent specs and a ton of clean headroom. We love it nearly as much as our XR12;between the two, we have it all covered. The ONYX pre's are easily as good as the Midas-designed,better actually for certain mics. This mixer is a The One.
Sound
The ONYX preamps are Top Tog at this price!
Features
We totally dig all the included features as this mixer provides all the needed bells n whistles. Main plus for us is the MIX knob for use when recording latency free recordings. It's an Interface...or a mixer...or both, way awesome.
Ease of Use
Easiest mixer to use! Mackie has a rock solid driver for all their interfaces, making this one of the best USB 24/192 recording interfaces in this pricerange. Of course, this is the only 2in/4 out interface with all these features.
Quality
Mackie quality plus a real IEC cable, instead of an adapter!
Value
Nothing beats it, price-wise or feature-wise.
The Wow Factor
Blew us away, for reals. This is one QUIET mixer and the ONYX preamps are serious kit. Add in a channel compressor w/FX,plus all the I/O routing options, and you have a mixer at the top of the heap.

Great product for this noob to using a mixing board. The one thing I wanted to comment on is Mackie’s customer service. TOP NOTCH!!!! I had a problem with the mixer and all I had to do was send a quick vid of the problem and some details and they warrantied it and are sending me a new one.

"Went bad right after the warranty ran out"

A couple weeks after the warranty expired, the right channel off the main fader stopped working. Mackie wouldn't stand behind their product, and told me I needed to pay to have it repaired. After this experience, I'll never buy another Mackie product, again. Terrible quality, and poor customer service. Very disappointing.

"Serious quality issues"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars

These boards die and die bad. I spent months filing tickets, emailing, calling and sending certified letters to Mackie attempting to get them to honor their warranty and they refused to communicate with me via any medium. I eventually filed a small claims case against them. They again refused to respond to the summons and I was awarded a default judgement which I'm sure they will refuse to pay because they know they can get away with it. Since I was no longer concerned with the sanctity of my non-existent warranty, I decided to open the unit up and see if there were any obvious reasons for the failures. What I found was truly horrific. SMD components are barely sitting on their respective pads in many locations and electrolytic capacitors seem to have been tacked on by what must have been an inebriated zoo animal. It is clear that someone was literally stabbing their soldering iron at the board with their eyes closed and they left giant, heaping blobs of flux all over the place. The fact that this thing worked for even a couple of hours is no small miracle. If you've been around for a while, you might associate the Mackie name with quality, but those people went bankrupt and sold that name to a venture capital group who calls themselves Loud Audio, LLC. Loud Audio, LLC is associated only with incredibly cheap labor at ridiculously inflated prices. I sincerely recommend that you avoid their products at all costs.
