Once in awhile you run into something you weren't expecting much from and come away pleasantly surprised. Well, I can say that about this Luna Bamboo guitar. I've always been intrigued by the designs of Luna Guitars but had never actually played one. I happened to stumble across the Bamboo Dreadnought when I was browsing through zZounds website. This was my 1st introduction to a Bamboo guitar as I've never thought to look for one before. As a player/collector, I own over 50 acoustic guitars from low priced Orangewood and Lag to high end Martin and Gibson, I'm always looking for something different and unique.Well, I went ahead and made the purchase of this guitar, having never played it and without seeing any personal reviews of quality/sound. Upon unboxing, I was very pleased with the simple elegance of this deisgn. It's a natural finish, very light with no fancy inlays or binding which keeps the price point where it's at. But that is not a bad thing at all. The etched leaf design looks like it was burnt-in which to me makes the appearance very classy. The bamboo material is laminate, but the quality of the top/back/sides was flawless. I'm a big fan of open pore designs, and this one didn't disappoint. I tuned it up, the neck was near perfect but I did do a slight adjustment. The action was almost perfect for my liking but I might lower a tad once I wear out the strings. The sound is absolutely wonderful for a guitar at this price point! I wouldn't have thought a laminate Bamboo guitar could produce the deep and rich tones that this guitar spits out. After an hour of play, the guitar was still pretty much in tune, a very slight adjustment on a few strings was needed. All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase of this guitar. There are no frills about it, no gloss shine and no fancy inlays. There is also no gig bag or case included which might be a reason for some to look past this model. But I don't buy a guitar for a case which can overstate the value.I highly recommend this guitar to anyone from the beginner to superstar live performer. You have a winner here Luna Guitars, well done!

"It's a real dog."

You might as well play a muted tin can as this guitar. It has zero voice, no resonance, no sustain, I played mine for a week before sending it out to my luthier, who was as disappointed as I was. The sound is dead dull, even after replacing the nut and saddle with solid bone, and new strings. This is easily the worst guitar I have ever played. So it will be relegated to being a pass-around guitar at the campfire, basically, a beater guitar. It's a shame. I love my Luna Gypsy 12 string, but this bamboo abomination is plain old awful.
Sound
I don't know who wrote the glowing review on this bamboo abomination, but this guitar is a dog. I have never played a more dull sounding, non resonant guitar in my life. It has absolutely zero voice or sustain, the top adamantly refuses to resonate, and it's simply horrible.
Features
The only thing even remotely redeeming about this guitar are the tuning machines.
Ease of Use
The construction of the guitar is fine, but the sound is dull, even after sending out to a luthier for a check and new set up after I begged the guitar for any voice. My luthier restrung it, went to solid bone for the nut, and saddle, and was as disappointed in this guitar as I was.
Manufacturer Support
Don't get me wrong here....I own two other Luna guitars that I love, like my Gypsy 12 string that will easily outplay any 12 in its class, but this bamboo thing is just terrible.
