This unique looking guitar is no gimmick. It has laminate top and sides with a veneer of black and white ebony on the top for a striking look with each one having a unique grain ranging from 95% antique white to 95% black grain. The feel of the neck surprised me. It was immediately comfortable, keep in mind I had just been trying out Martins at 10X this price. The fretwork was as good or better than you would expect in this price range. But then I played it. It's got a unique but beautiful voice. It's a bit brighter than most laminates and plenty of projection. Playing a handful of chord-oriented songs, this guitar rang out beautifully. Was I suddenly tone deaf? I alternated trying a Yamaha A1M and a Dean St. Augustine concert with cutaway with this Luna. They all were very different beasts but I feel under the spell of all three. This Luna would be much more durable as a laminate but such a looker, I'd be as happy to be seen with this one in public as my Martin 000-15M StreetMaster. I would just worry less about damaging the stronger materials in the Luna than the all Mahogany Martin. I'll be looking for a deal on one and will not hesitate when I find that deal. Other notes: the tuners moved easily, it stayed in tune despite really digging in for several songs, I was not expecting the wonderful sound that seemed balanced with notable mids compared to the Martin X series laminates I tried that afteroon and didn't sound dull like the Martin X series. This is a great beginner or extra or a durable traveler. Nice job, Luna.
