KRK ST8 Personal Studio Monitor Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

They're hard to find on showroom floors, but I'd recommend them enough for you to take a chance on them and order them online. You won't regret getting these.
Sound
Extremely well balanced in all registers. My customers have commented on how well the mixes translate to various other systems. I've been carefully shopping for monitors for the better part of 4 months. The only other speaker that I liked better was the Dynaudio BM6 which costs 4 times as much. I've been sitting in front of these speakers for about a week straight now and there is no listening fatigue. There is also enough low frequency information coming out of this speaker to allow intelligent EQ and compression adjustments. I used to have trouble producing mixes that would play correctly on based-hyped car stereos...no more! It's also possible to make this speaker sound bad....which is good! When the bass is farting and exploding on these speakers it does that same on car stereos and other "big-bass" systems. BTW, don't judge the tonal quality of this speaker by listening to an ST6. The ST6 is dark and muddy. You'd swear that the ST6 was made by a different company by listening to them.
Quality
The finish on the front of the cabinet wasn't sprayed quite perfectly on both of the speakers. You can see it when the light is hitting it straight on. Considering the sound that you get for the price I can't complain too much.
Value
I'm getting rid of my Event 20/20, Tannoy Reveals, Tannoy PBM 6.5 II and my M-Audio BX-5! I mix and master acoustic chamber music, jazz, pop and rock. My clients are among the pickiest people in the world when it comes to sound. These little speakers are the bomb! I'm gonna take the world hostage!
The Wow Factor
There is no better passive monitor (or active for that matter)for anywhere near this price.
