I love this bass! Same comments as the review above. The tonal variances are amazing. The pick iups produce a nice warm sound. The neck is nice and thin but solid. Great for playing up tempo songs. Nice & speedy. I’d go more in depth but the other review summed it up perfectly I’m happy with it. The only reason I gave 3 stsrs on the manufacturer support is because Fender screwed me over a bit on a damaged instrument last year. zZounds is great! Never have an issue with them.

Great pickups, great preamp, lots of tonal options and a form factor that is excellent. The Nordstrand single coil pickups are super articulate and have the beautiful single coil sound. Because they are single coil expect hum. I am using it on moderate to high gain and I tend to use some level of distortion. Having a noise gate is a must other than clean settings.I’m not sure what preamp is in this bass but it is excellent and features volume, pickup blend, bass, midrange, treble and two switches, one a three way to change midrange frequencies in essence making the midrange similar to a paragraph if EQ. There is also a switch to make the bass passive or active with the passive setting making one of the controls a traditional tone control - I’m not by the bass currently or I’d be more specific. The neck is smooth, good fretboard and fretwork. It is neck through with a mahogany, walnut 5 ply neck through. The sides are mahogany as well. There is a bit of neck dive when seated which is much better when standing. The tuners are okay and the bridge is similar to the Ibanez monorail which has one piece of metal per string. So far I have had no serious issues with the bass. It needed some setup but it was fairly easy to take care of. One nice ergonomic issue is the B string. It is tighter because of the 35” scale. Can it down tune to G? It isn’t multi scale so if you need to down tune that low you’ll be filing the nut or replacing it to make way for fatter strings to avoid things getting too flabby..This is not a metal player’s bass. It can do metal but honestly single coils, even Nordstrands are going to behave like single coils. This bass is highly flexible and can get the Fender J and P style but can get more aggressive. I have a Stingray bass and the Jackson gets very close to the aggressive tone but again, the pickups are single coil whereas the Stngray is humbucking. Still, the Nordstrands are very, very good and the preamp is really good too.At this price point it’s a good deal as well. People have been saying the Jackson is supposed to be an Ibanez killer. The way I see it they are still different in feel and as such open to your tastes. It always bugs me when reviewers (I’m looking at you YouTube) play the bass through YouTube’s compression and don’t really address how the instrument plays. For me I don’t care how good something sounds if the playing experience isn’t enjoyable. That said, this bass plays nicely and feels comfortable…for me.
