Let me start by saying this is my 3rd bass purchased on zZounds since June 2022. The other 2 were Ibanez Sound gears. I've been playing since around '94. I also have a '97 Sound gear, and an '83 B.C. Rich (Mocking Bird). This is my first Jackson. Ok, I'll start with the ugly. First the G string tuning peg/Machine head has a dead spot where nothing happens while turning it! The fret ends are basically left untreated as they are still rough! One of the pick-ups was pushed all the way down to the pick guard on one side. The same side, and right beside the little "quality control" sticker they put on it!! So that's the ugly!! Cheap strings (Of course!), but these grab the thin tiny hairs on my picking hand/arm and pull them out. I've NEVER had strings that do this......so idk what kinda strings these come with, but they are worthless imo! The action could be better too. This Bass needs a professional set up imo. (So I'm putting it straight in the Luthier's). So that's the bad. Ok now the good. I didn't return this Bass as it was my right to do so. Because I felt the good outweighed the bad and ugly. I play Rock and Metal so I've always liked and wanted a Jackson Bass. I love the matte finish. The blacked out hardware, inlays, and binding are hot! The active electronics like I have on my 2 newer Ibanez is awesome. Love the neck-thru design just like my B.C. Rich. And the matte finish makes it a smooth fast neck. The body contours are well thought out, and it has the bigger guitar strap pegs. With the standard pointed Jackson headstock. This Bass looks badass. And once I get it back from the Luthier to level the frets, file the fret ends, and drop the action this bass will play badass too. After tuning it played ok straight out of the box though. The intonation was good, but with a professional set up this thing will be Awesome! I'm putting DR Black Beauties on her! Going to reach out to Jackson to see what they will do about this bad tuning peg! I put a 5 star review on manufacture support in hopes they do the right thing.
