"Good for a starting drummer or Rock Band-er."

This kit is really not for pros unless you just use the trigger pads for additional sounds. If used as-is, this is for the beginner. I would have loved this kit when I was a kid, but nothing like this was available until many years later! Any serious drummer should use something like this as a tool, only or for practice when volume is an issue. Nothing will ever take the place of a real drum kit.
Sound
This little kit has some nice sounds for the price. I bought this kit for additional trigger pads and a few more imputs for my Alesis DM8 kit. I also used pieces of the rack to accomodate for the additional needed space for the extra pads and a seperate stand for the two modules which frees up space on the main rack. I don't use Rock Band, but it would be ideal for that, over some of the really cheap setups that come with Rock band.
Features
Again, for the price, you can't beat it. The rack is sturdy. The pedals are a bit cheap, but they work fine. It comes with a set of headphones and I was very surprised by the sound quality. I thought it would sound bad, but they sound as good as my more expensive set and they are much lighter. Try them before buying a pricier pair.
Ease of Use
This kit is a no brainer. Volume is the ony instrument adjustment controle. You can't adjust pitch, reverb, etc.
Quality
Quality is decent. I wouldn't beat the hell out of it, but if you are a resonable drummer you will be OK. The rack is quite sturdy. The rack accessories. This is a beginner kit, so don't consider it for road use.
Value
I would have liked this kit to be a little less, but didn't have a problem paying what I did for what I wanted it for. I did find it for less at a different store, but Zzounds is always great about beating the price of a competitor, so look around for a lower price.
Manufacturer Support
I did contact support for my Alises kit (who makes Ion) and they took too long to connect, but they did answer my question successfully.

"I'll let you be the judge. I'm just learning and don't want to sound too ignorant."

I believe this product will serve me for at least a year or more. I will probably need at least that much time just to be comfortable with basics. However, even though I consider myself a fast learner, I may have it much longer before looking for an upgrade. For me, I am very satisfied with it currently, and that is what I wanted.
Sound
I'm rating the sound at a 7 as it sounds good in headphones, but the volume must be cranked up on a sound system to hear it. I can really rate it to other products as this is the first "drum set" I have ever owned. I do like the ability to save different set-ups, but I would like to have more control on the volume of individual drums. The bass drum is overwhelming in my opinion, and some of the snare choices are awkward to maintain at a consistent level (but that may be my inexperience as I have only been learning for a month now: my only previous experience is a few years playing a Djembe).
Features
I am happy with the features included. I would like to have had the option to add more inputs but was aware of what I purchased and feel it is excellent for the price I paid.
Ease of Use
I have found this set, and the interface, to be extremely easy to use. I have not tried out all the features yet, but when I do investigate something new, the manual is very easy to follow and the steps are usually so few in number that it only takes a couple of times before I have them memorized.
Quality
I'm rating this at 7 (for now) as I have only had it about a month. It is difficult to say how long it will last. At this time, it appears to be very sturdy and is taking a beating (haha). It is easy to adjust the parts and from what I have done, should probably be rated higher. I just don't really know yet on it's durability as (like I said) it's only been a month.
Value
As far as I know, it is a great value. I have not looked elsewhere for a comparison, and I'm satisfied with what I paid.
Manufacturer Support
this is not applicable at this time for me.
The Wow Factor
I want it to learn (or at least to try to learn) some drum basics. I did not purchase it for its aesthetics. If I wanted looks, I would have purchased a traditional set.

Ion Audio IED12 Pro Drums Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have to give it a 10....Little nit -picking things , but for the money it is way better then I expected. I highly recommend this product.
Sound
It sounds great. It does not come close to an acoustic, but if you are getting it to practice with then its perfect.
Features
Could use another cymbal, but I can ad to it, so it is not a big deal. I hooked up mp3 player to it and also put a splitter so i could use 2 headphones. I live in an apartment , so I can give drum lessons to my son and him and I are the only two to hear it. I actually don't mind the plastic pedals (i can always upgrade).
Ease of Use
Very easy.
Quality
Very sturdy. Only had it a couple weeks. I can see it lasting a few yrs at least.
Value
For what you get the price is great.
The Wow Factor
It looks great for the house. I wouldn't use it live. It some times misses a beat if you don't hit the trigger just right. That would not bother me at home, but would on the road playing a live show. With that said ...it still looks good in my room.
