Great purchase ! Look no further smooth right out of the box ! The finish and look of the guitar is simply beautiful I picked up the blackberry burst and impressed. Great action very smooth with very good sustain , the body is very thin with great sound and If you have small hands perfect neck a quality guitar you don’t have to buy a 1k guitar this is it ! This guitar has just... awesome feel. There are other guitars within $100 of this guitar that also feel just as good, but this one doesn't feel as cheap and is still the lightest that I've played at this price point. The finish is also great and what initially drew me to it, but after playing it I was fully sold. The pickups are pretty good. Nothing special but they do have a nice heavy sound, and can always be replaced. (though it's not necessary, they are still quite good).

I don’t normally like to leave reviews so soon after receiving any kind of product, I got my S521 less than 24 hours after ordering it, I had been eyeballing it for months and seeing how it’s tax time I pulled the trigger. I read many reviews for this guitar here and elsewhere and the general consensus is either you love it or you don’t, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lotta in between. Me, I love it. With that said I have been burned by Ibanez before as I bought an S-series 20 years ago and didn’t care for it for various reasons and traded it a few years ago for a 1994 S-Series. Anyways, the fit and finish on this guitar is perfect, NO adjustments or set up needed it came ready to play out of the box, all I did was oil up the fret board and I was on my way, the pickups aren’t the greatest but aren’t bad by any means. The neck, oh the glorious neck and that sustain, man I felt like Nigel Tufnel trying to explain it to my girlfriend. If your on the fence about this guitar get off it and give her a chance. Kudos to zZounds for the great packaging and super fast shipping!

Just bought a used ibanez s521. I'm very impressed with the playability. My hands fly on this neck. The pickups sound awesome for ceramics and the switch had good options for pickup configuration. I also like the thin very light body. Because of arthritis, I changed the strings from 10s to 9s. It plays like a dream.

Purchased this In Jan.2021, looked great, very light. Have been very busy and just now being able to get around to testing and playing it. 1st, 2nd 3rd fret are terrible and pretty much dead. The tone pot, knob is bent and scrapes. The finish of the frets along the neck is very poor. Currently the Ibanez S521 is unplayable. Will defiantly think twice before ordering another guitar from zZounds. I understand that this is an inexpensive guitar, but at the very least it should be somewhat playable.
