"Ibanez frozen ocean: Buy this guitar"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I've been an Ibanez man for over 20 years. I've had a myriad of RG's, 2 JS series' and this is hands down the best playing guitar I've ever played. I've already wrote and recorded one song and it sounds even better than it looks, and it plays even better than it sounds! 2k for a guitar is a lot of money; but if you're a serious player, pro or not, this guitar is worth every penny.
Sound
You can get amazing and beautiful cleans and with the Fishman fluence it can sound any way one wants. prog metal, jazz, blues, insane soaring leads with amazing sustain. The cleans are round, and warm. Literally any style this guitar fills the all the gaps.
Features
The trem system is incredible. I use mine a lot to flow into notes, for vibrato, and the occasional dimebag dive bomb. Stays perfectly in tune. The maple neck ads such a snappy brightness to the tone as well.
Ease of Use
The note clarity, whether clean, or full on death metal gains, you will hear every note. I'm in Eb with the 6 dropped to c# and with the DR 11-50 the guitar plays itself.
Quality
Top notch craftsmanship. When I got the guitar, it wasn't set up at all. Had loose tuner nuts, and certainly wasn't playable out of the box. But after swapping string tuning and string gauges it was intonated very well as I needed almost no additional adjustments when going heavier gauge. Within 30 minutes I was playing it. I actually love the fact that I had to set it up, as I was the first person to play it.
Value
It's 2k. That's a lot for the average person. But the value for what you get is well worth the money.
Manufacturer Support
No problems at all. But Ibanez will take care of their customers. I've dealt with them in the past.
The Wow Factor
This guitar goes to 11. If you want to sound like a professional, I highly recommend it. Though your chops will make it sing!Buy this guitar.

"Best Prestige I have owned"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

While I own many different guitars from different companies I have found that as I got older, just turned 51, that I tended to pick up my Ibanez guitars most of the time as the necks just started to fit my hands better, especially when playing fast. You can read the details on this guitar, they are quite stellar but the point of my review is on the craftsmanship. My go to guitar for the past couple of years has been a J Custom 8750z, it was truly flawless in every regard. Over the years I have found some minor issue with almost every guitar I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot in the past 38 years, except for the J Custom and a PRS Core C24, until I got the 5120.This guitar is truly flawless. Of course I had to make some minor adjustments as I like my action very low but it was setup right out of the box. There is literally not a flaw to be found anywhere - the frets, binding, neck, trem cavity, pickup routing etc...This is also my first set of Fishman pickups and the clarity, even at high gain, is truly amazing. The Lo-Pro Edge is also rock solid and thus far has been able to take any abuse I can dish out. Finally the finish is just stunning. If you are trying to decide on something around this price range, this is the guitar. Pick the one you like best from the pictures and just buy it. You will not be disappointed.

"Awesome! Colors are moody."

My first prestige and it plays so fast and smooth. The color in person is I have no idea what is going on. Every day it has a different mood. Sometimes it looks purple, blue, burgundy, gold, black, green or brown. Really it depends on lighting. I have no idea how many paint coats they threw on this but it looks good all the time.
Sound
This can play anything. The cleans are clear and the distortion can get dirty.
Ease of Use
Very easy minimal effort. Could just go straight clean and it would sound good.
Quality
Very high Quality.
Value
For this price for a top of the line Ibanez you can't go wrong.
Manufacturer Support
Huge Ibanez fan it's basically all I've owned except for a few odd ones here and there.
The Wow Factor
The aesthetics of it definitely pulled me toward it.

Musical Style:

More progressive rock/metal. I love ambience and cleans mixed with high gain distortion.

"New RG5120M Prestige"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I bought this from zZounds and i love it. The pickups are amazing. The voicing switch provides additional options to the already crisp, punchy sound. Playability is 10 out of 10 due to the smooth thin neck and SS jumbo frets.

"Unbelievable!!"

Just got my new RG5120M from zZounds today. The craftsmanship is impeccable as expected from Ibanez. The finish and frets are all perfect. The tone is fantastic too. I’d never played the Fishman Fluence pickups before so I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect. They didn’t disappoint. Very clear and articulate with glassy cleans and wonderful gain tones. The sustain is impressive as well. I can only imagine it will get even better when I install a new set of cobalt strings tonight. There was one hiccup with the instrument that while not a big deal, is worth mentioning. The arm holder on the Lo Pro Edge tremolo was loose. A quick tighten with a 10mm socket corrected it. No problem for me, but not everyone may have the tools or set up knowledge to correct this themselves. This should not occur on a guitar in this price range. A very minor issue that was easily corrected, but it should have been caught at the factory. Overall, I am 100% satisfied with this instrument. It plays like a dream and every aspect of the instrument is musical bliss. I’m looking forward to a very long relationship with this guitar. Thank you Ibanez for making this and thank you zZounds for another fantastic buying experience. This is the fourth instrument purchased from zZounds. I can’t imagine a scenario in which I would choose to purchase somewhere else.
