"Great guitar, NOT for metal."

This guitar plays great, feels great, looks great and sounds great, but a word of warning. If you're a metalhead and your intention is to slap some big strings on it and play in F#, you're gonna be disappointed. I play in Drop A on a seven string, which is just standard tuning with the B string dropped to A. Well, A is too low on the the low string on this guitar. It gets all wobbly and slappy, and increasing string size didn't make a difference. I went from the 10-59 that it comes with to 11-64 and it made little to no difference in the string tension. This is possibly because of the 25.5 scale length, which is a little short for a seven string. If you're getting this guitar for other genres, cool, it's a great guitar, but don't get it if your plan is to play metal.

The capabilities of this decapitated fiddle most certainly include getting Metal AF. It Metals just as hard; if not even harder than any other fiddle. Just gotta be sure to adjust the intonation and what not to suit your preferences.

"Simply a pleasure to play"

I have owned it for a little under a year. It’s my preference of the ones I own. I play it mainly, unplugged, and it sounds and resonates similar to an acoustic. It’s very well voiced through my Yamaha THR10X. The 8 degree slant frets (not fanned) are really comfortable and I think more guitar builders should adopt that idea. It’s well balanced in the lap, at the neck pickup, meaning it doesn’t dive one way or another when it’s sitting there. I can balance it in my palm just underneath that pickup. It’s very light weight and to my surprise I really appreciate that. It does sit funny in a standard floor stand due to the strap knobs but it’s not a big deal. Just pay attention when placing it. Rests well on a wall mount like any other Ibanez I own. I like how compact and simple it is. It’s unassuming and subtle but it’s got its wow factors for sure! I agree, it’s probably not for some flop-metal players but it could chug and grind with any other guitar and hold its own.The mono bridges hold their tune really well. I play Ernie Ball slinkys and haven’t changed them since I got it… haven’t had to; I fingerpick. It’s definitely inspired me! I like to do some funky slap pop and pulls and it holds up good. Overall, I’d be really sad if I lost it and I would buy it again if someone stole it from me. It’s a game changer for me and an inspiration in its own rite. It’s everything I have needed and nothing I don’t want. The gig bag is quality too. Simply elegant and fun to play.
