Unless this bass is lost or stolen, it should last me until I can no longer play. If it ever needs repair, I am sure I will repair it rather than replace it. It feels that good. Lost or stolen? I will be looking for another one just like it.
Sound
I am 55 years old and I wanted "old school", and this bass is everything I wanted. My previous bass was a Yamaha RBX series played through Marshall and Fender amps. In addition to using these amps, I plan to purchase an Ampeg next year. I am sure that this Jet King will sound totally awesome with the Ampeg tone.
Features
It is a simple bass. Everything I need is on this bass.
Ease of Use
Great design! Feels great! Very playable!
Quality
Perfect! Not a blemish on it! Ibanez quality control is obviously on the ball.
Value
This bass is well worth what was paid for it. And from what I have seen online, it will hold it's value and then some. This bass will surely be one of those guitars that commands a high price years after Ibanez has stopped producing it.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had it long enough to need support. To answer this support question, I did something that I always do prior to making a major purchase. I simply Googled "Ibanez support". Not a single negative result was returned. That says a lot about Ibanez.
The Wow Factor
Very sexy! I wanted the "old school" look. It fits the bill!

"The Jet King is a diamond in the rough."

The Jet King is a diamond in the rough. I think Ibanez has stumbled on to something here. With a few upgrades this bass could be worth so much more.
Note to Ibanez: Make the bridge out of tempered steel (not cast), use bartolini pickups, Schaler tuners, and upgrade the vol/tone controls.
Sound
I've had this bass since March '08, and for the price it is a steal. Yes it is light and the neck is a dream. I too had a bit of fret buzz, but it was corrected by a minor adjustment to the saddle height. This bass sings! The combination of the Mahogany body and the massive bridge gives it killer tone and resonance. It sounds like a brighter version of the Gibson Thunderbird.
Features
It's pretty straight forward: Two passive Humbuckers with V,V,T controls, and a giant bridge that gives this bass a premium sound.
Ease of Use
Plug and Play. 100%
Quality
So here is the rub... The hardware and electronics are economy class. I've had the bass since March and gigged with it every week since then. The tuners have held up, the pickups are doing great, but I have had to replace the jack and tone pot so far.
Value
This bass is worth every penny and then some.
Manufacturer Support
I Haven't had to deal with support nor the warranty. I didn't feel like a new jack and tone pot was worth dealing with the warranty.
The Wow Factor
If you are into the retro look, go for it. Even if you aren't get it anyway. The bridge is awesome!

"wow, what an amazing neck.."
id say as a second bass this would be around for awhile. maybe a few upgrades..
Sound
well...yea, i didnt actually plug it in. It was a bit twangy and light when played acousticaly, with initial fret buzz attack.
Features
I didnt use the eq, so neutral 5.
Ease of Use
im really here to comment on the neck. it was one of the most comfortable and quickest necks ive ever played. It strange because I normally only like more narrow jazz style necks. I do like the thinner Ibanez style necks, but this was wider and yet more comfortable than the other ibanez basses in the shop. the frets looked very even, the neck was straight, but needed a setup. Im sure after a good setup this bass would be an off the scale great player, so heads up.
Quality
it was ok, you know really light weight export materials.
Value
its a bit pricey for an impulse buy but once youve actually played it youll agree at how the neck profile is magic.
