"Stunning Guitar backed by top-notch Customer Service"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Overall, I am very satisfied. I have had that big issue, but, I have to be realistic. I cannot expect any better service that what I have received from Ibanez. Besides that, I really miss having the guitar here. I can't wait for it to get repaired or replaced so I can play it again.
Sound
The sound of the guitar is amazing. It has a very unique sound and everyone that plays it comments on the amazing sound.
Features
This guitar has loads of great features that really make it a blast to play. The onboard electronics are really good. With the eq, tuner, anti-feedback, and 6 mic settings, you can really create a lot of different sounds onboard. I will say that I have not been able to get the anti-feedback to work like it is supposed to but that may be because I am not smart enough to figure it out. The guitar is beutiful. Very Striking.
Ease of Use
This guitar came to me from Zzounds with a perfect set up. The action was amazing. I actually called Zzounds and thanked them for the perfect setup. I have used the D'Addario EXP strings on my other acoustic and I didn't like them. However, I must say that they were great on this guitar from the factory. The guitar is so fun to play, it made me practice harder and more often.
Quality
Overall, the quality of this guitar is amazing. The craftsmanship is really beautiful and there has been a lot of work put into each guitar. I did have a proplem though. Actually, my guitar is currently at an authorized Ibanez repair shop because the neck bowed on me and the strings began to bottom out at about the 10th fret. This is my only real complaint about the guitar but it is a big one.
Value
I don't think you can get a guitar this beautiful and feature rich for this price from any other brand. I would pay the asking price again.
Manufacturer Support
Both Zzounds and Ibanez were great to deal with on the bowed neck issue with the guitar. I must admit that I live in the High Desert in North Eastern Utah and it is really dry here so that may have had something to do with the neck bowing on me. However, Zzounds was very helpful and Ibanez was amazing. I called them, told them what I was experiencing, they then gave me the info I needed to send it in. No questions asked. They were really great.
The Wow Factor
I have read some reviews where people didn't like the matte finish of the guitar. However, I really like the looks of the guitar. The vines growing up the fretboard are really unique. I get a lot of comments on the guitar.

"The real deal on the EP9"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This guitar sounds pretty good by itself and plugged in. You have many different sound options similar to a taylor with the guitar plugged in. It sounded really good when I plugged straight into my main PA first time.
Quality
The product seems to be well made, but came out of the case almost unplayable. The action was way too high, which I just think is unacceptable, because I spent over a $1000 on this guitar. I had to file the saddle on the bridge down quite a bit. After a couple of hours of work it played fantastic and felt comfortable.
Value
yes, but I think it should come in playable condition. I'm sure they wouldn't give the guitar out of the box like that for Vai to play.
The Wow Factor
It's nice, but the Vai logo around the soundhole can go away.

"This guitar was a huge disappointment"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Don't waste your time.
Sound
This guitar sounds pretty bad given its price. Plain, no resonance, no character. Really poor. Really disappointing, because the combination of woods should sound good.
Features
The electronics are ok... I prefer LR Baggs to Fishman..... well, this is the best part of the guitar. It looks really pretty. I really wanted to love it. Bummer.
Ease of Use
This guitar had really stiff action, no hope of lowering it, and even if you could lower it, there was a horrendous buzz. I think that some of the buzz was from poor craftsmanship, and not just because of the strings!
Quality
The guitar looks good, but is poorly made.
Value
This guitar did not play as well or sound as good as some $400.00 Yamahas in the store.
Manufacturer Support
The company accepted my return no questions asked... They were freindly, but not helpful.... i.e. I gave them a week to find me one that was worth a darn anywhere. They couldn't.
The Wow Factor
It is pretty... and Steve Vai is great.... but ithe guitar sounds bad, doesn't play well, and just isn't very useful. It is not well made, and is really over-hyped for what it is.

"The perfect acoustic...........for me!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is the last acoustic that I will buy. If it were stolen, I would be extremely pissed, but would try to replace with another. Guitars are very personal things, kind of like women, everyone has their own favorites.
Sound
For a thin acoustic, it has an amazingly rich sound. Not as deep and tonal as a fatter guitar, but very good unplugged. Plugged up to my Marshall acoustic amp it's fantastic.
Features
The on board Fishman electronics are great, and the tuner is so easy and accessable. Easy to fine tune duing a gig.
Ease of Use
I read some complaint about the action out of the box, but mine was perfect. The way it plays was a big reason that I bought it.
Quality
The quality is great, especially for such a light instrument. I was actually shopping for a Taylor 414 and walked out with this. Who'd a thunk it. I do wish it had come with a pick guard to protect the face.
Value
I bought this guitar in 2006 and new ones are now going for about $600 more than what I paid. Can't beat that.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal it Ibanez.
The Wow Factor
With everything else I've said about it, this is one b-e-a-utiful guitar. I constantly get complements about the way it looks. Of course thats just cream on top.

"Caveat Emptor...."

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I hope that this was a fluke. My brand new instrument buzzed, had hideously high action, and there was no hope of lowering it because the saddle could not be filed at all. It played horribly, and did not sound as good as $400.00 Yamahas. The store is ordering me another one on the chance this one was defective. I hope so.... otherwise, my opinion of ibanez just dropped exponentially.
