Ibanez ASB140 Artcore Electric Bass

Of course, there are a few other semi-acoustic basses worth considering out there. So why choose Ibanez (besides the fast that Ibanez is the number one selling electric bass company)? Because Ibanez Artcore semi-acoustics feature higher output pickups and a full 34 in. scale for better sustain and articulation than standard semi-acoustic basses. Artcore's Quick Change III tailpiece contributes to the great sustain of these all new basses as well as providing easy string changes. The AGB140 also features a mahogany/maple neck, a maple body, and an Ibanez ACHB1 pickup.

Ibanez ASB140 Artcore Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Perfect bass for my oldies/pop cover gig.I would not buy another since I already have one,but this is a very cool bass and I can't see myself parting with it. Great value for the price.
Sound
A unique sound for sure. Great for oldies and classic rock/pop stuff. Nice jazz vibe to it as well. I use it for low volume acoustic gigs and full electric band jobs and it works well in both settings. I found by lowering the pickup that more definition is given to the notes and a better apt to pick up the semi-hollow vibe.
Features
Had to special order the hardshell case because it is an odd ball bass shape. It took way longer to get one from Ibanez than it should have. Other than that,no problems.
Quality
Appears to be well made. I can't see it lasting 10 years of consistent gigging without problems, but for the short haul and if you have other options--it is fine. It is semi-hollow after all.
Value
Good value for the price. No complaints.
Manufacturer Support
Outside of the protracted case wait--no need to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
This is one cool looking bass. Instantly drawn to it at the store. Chicks dig it too!!!

"I didn't have to lie to her this time!"

She (the wife) asked me: "What do you need with another guitar??" Once it arrived and she looked it over she fell in love with it. I didn't even have to tell her the old story about how it belonged to someone else and I was "Just working on it out for him".
Sound
Sweet and Clean. Has that great thumpy sound found in the hollow bodies of the 60's.
Features
A volume and tone knob. Anything else, active pick-ups, EQ, etc. would only detract from the already beautiful sound.
Ease of Use
This is one well built guitar!! Out of the box it was only slightly out of tune. Fit and finish is top notch.
Quality
The factory set-up is quite good. This is a very playable instrument. The action is fast and clean, solid from head to toe.
Value
You won't find a better "Bang for your Buck" !!
Manufacturer Support
Great Support!! Unless I leave this out in rain or drop it down a flight of stairs I don't anticipate a need for any support. It's just that well made. In my mind, that's the best kind of support.
The Wow Factor
Workmanship is impecable, Sound is awesome and the playability are just a few reasons I'd purchase another one in a heart beat if it was ever damaged or lost.
