Got the red cherry model in the mail today, I have had a few issues with Indonesian built Ibanez hollow body's but zZounds has taken care of that, well this one is perfect, it was even almost in tune, action set up and all, it's lighter than my art star version of this, plays great and looks great. I got this to replace my Gibson es 335 I let go in the 80's and will not pay there 3500 bucks for another, this one really plays a little better.

Just bought the Cherry Red version from zZounds. Upon opening box, stunning look. Great flame. Now the fun. Action was insanely high, not at all like an Ibanez. Some fret buzz. Not looking good. Then I looked down the neck. Reason being the truss rod was completely loose. Big dip in neck. No big deal if you know how to adjust it. Upon setting truss by tightening it, action got low, buzz all gone. Perfect. No buzz with insanely low action.Next is the neck. It is not slim. I prefer slim ibanez necks. This feels very much like an acoustic guitar. Bordering on baseball bat. However, because of the low action, and the neck not being very wide, I have no problems playing it. Medium frets like on a vintage les paul. Frets definitely need some polishing, some sandy sounds using vibrato. But they do not come through to amp so, once again, play it in for awhile or have at it with some Frane fret polish. Easy fix.Comfy body with GREAT pickups and eady knobs. Electronics feel and sound beautiful. Smooth and detailed.Does not come with a case, so get one asap. You'll want to protect her.

Well let me say before purchasing this guitar I was looking at the different websites that let you pay on time, and zZounds was the best dealer by far. I'm trying to build my credit and zZounds 4 payment plan with no hard inquiry was exactly what I was looking for. Now to the guitar I originally was set on epiphone sheraton 2 pro but after playing both the Ibanez team has the more consistent guitar. The tone of the guitar is fat almost creamy like, action is perfect no fret buzz just needed to be tuned and was ready to play. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone looking to get that Larry Carlton tone. it's a excellent guitar for a relatively cheap price.

First things first, zZounds, prompt service and minimal hassle, that’s a plus. I did use the chat feature because I had a couple of questions and I was satisfied with the answers I received. I was a little concerned when I saw the shipping box because it had a hole in it and it contained no cushioning for the guitar box. No peanuts, bubble wrap or paper. Just a box inside of a box, but the guitar was unscathed. Phew! The guitar: I’ve wanted a 335 style guitar for years and I why did I wait so long? I tried a few different models including the JSM-10 and JSM-20, Epiphone and Gibson ES-335s. Now, of course I would have liked the Gibson but the price tag isn’t really justifiable for someone who rarely plays gigs. That aside, this is also my first Ibanez in many years and they are still as good as I remember them being. The fit and finish was flawless, I could find no nicks, scratches or dings anywhere on the guitar. I did a setup on the guitar, oiled the fretboard, changed the strings, adjusted the truss rod, tuners, bridge, tailpiece and pickups and the guitar plays beautifully. The neck fits my hand nicely, the ebony fretboard is supple and smooth. The weight of the guitar is almost perfect and it’s not neck heavy at all. I bought a genuine Ibanez hardshell case for the guitar separately because for something this nice you should just have one. This is a guitar I plan to keep for a long time, I want it protected and a hardshell case is the way to do that. Gig bags are fine for most solid body guitars, but for something like this, I think a hard case is better. The Ibanez Super 58 pickups are some of my favorite pickups of all the different brands, similar to the classic warm output pickups of the past. But they can drive your amp nicely with a pedal when you want them to. The volume and tone controls work as expected, although the tone controls seem more like “on/off” than an even taper, but that’s not a complete negative, just something to be aware of. I would like to have a series/parallel (Tri-Sound) switch, but you have to move up in the line for that and zZounds didn’t have that model in stock when I was ready to buy the guitar.Overall, I am very happy with this guitar. My only issue with it were the sharp fret ends, but I’ve already fixed them and I am enjoying this guitar and I am thankful to zZounds for making this purchase so quick and simple.

"NICE, NOT GREAT"

I bought one of these and it's a really nice guitar for the money, however mine had a slight issue with the binding. It was jagged in a spot and I had to sand it down with some 600 paper. Made in Indonesia, like i say, it's a nice guitar and the sound is very good, but it's not nearly of the Japanese quality much less American quality guitars. But, if you're looking for excellent tone at a reasonable price, this is a very good buy.

"an outstanding value for the money"

I submitted one review that didn't get posted. So here is my second. This AS93FM Ibanez is simply a great value for the money spent. I have owned a B.B. King Lucille and while that is a great semi-hollow body instrument and I never thought I'd ever find one it's equal, up jumped this Ibanez. No it didn't cost what Lucille did But is just as good since the Super 58 pickups are flat out fabulous. Clear and balanced with excellent note seperation. The neck carve and fretboard radius is comfortable, the fret work and fret ends are incredibly well dressed. The action was perfect right out of the case with not a single bad or dead note anywhere. The fit and finish is superb while not a nitro-lacquer finish like Lucille it is very well applied and buffed to a mirror like gloss. If one wanted to but not a necessary thing, you can get a drop in bone string nut from Ibanez direct and is so easy to replace the synthetic string nut that comes on the guitar. No other adjustments are needed. The control pots and 3 way switch are of a very good quality. No scratchiness or noise. The ebony fretboard is very nice and smooth. At the end of the day this guitar has become my "go to " instrument over my very much more expensive ones. It covers about any style of music you could want except shredding or very heavy metal genre songs. If you play Jazz or the blues or rock & roll or country or classic rock this axe is for you. A good tube amp and this guitar and your all set. As always Zzounds is the best internet dealer out there. Thier "play as you pay" program is the very best you will find. In fact this is my second Ibanez guitar I have bought from them among many other big name makers. I bought an Ibanez AF95FM jazz box guitar that is just as nice as this AS93FM. Ibanez's customer service is outstanding. They are always ready to help any way they can

I don't need to make this a long review simply because I can summarize this in a few short sentences. When you want way more value for the money you spend on a guitar this is what your looking for. Excellent build quality, materials, fit and finish, set up and hardware. Not one single adjustment has to be made when I first played it. It was dead on perfect. Action, neck relief, intonation, everything just flawless. As good as any Gibson Semi-hollow body I have ever played for 5 times less money. I don't know how Ibanez does it but they just proved it to me. This is now the crown jewel in my collection of 12 guitars that cost considerably more money. After 54 years of experience playing guitar all I can do is suggest you give this one a try if your looking for a world class semi-hollow body guitar, I would normally never give anything a perfect score but this time I am compelled to. It is just that good in my humble opinion. zZounds is the best to buy from period ! Their Play-to-Pay program is just excellent.

I have been playing the epiphone les paul std for two and half years now,and started looking at semi hollows around five months ago! I did some research looked at reviews and then bought the am93 ays almost four months ago,and just love it! The body is bigger and its lighter then the les paul ,it rests real nice on the lap no strap is neaded.Pickups and tunners excellent !! I would say the neck shape is a (c ) standard! Not thin like a jackson or wizard 3 neck! With the string action low feels and plays very nice!! Flawless machine ! No sharp frets,no freting out, all notes are clear, fret boards nice and dark no gaps around the block inlays ! All smooth sealed and even. Amazing finish. Thanks to everyone at zZounds ! With the payment plan i was able to get this! im very happy and very much enjoy it

I was playing a epiphone les paul std.for three-years and started looking at the semi-hollow bodys.it was between epiphone 339 and the Ibanez am93.the epiphone 339 uses that Indian laurel wood for the fingerboard which is to light in color for me. that E on the pickguard etc! Besides one or two frets needing polished the Ibanez is flawless out of the box Amazing sounds .tunners, fully loaded.nice thick c neck.rests on the lap real nice ,it being bigger I don't Have to wear a strap! I love lookin at it and playing it ! It was definitely a great purchase.
