Thanks again zZounds for fast, efficient service and your awesome payment plans! I've literally done the 'Pay To Play' thing with you guys about a dozen times now; I have some nice equipment that I would've had to save up for, or had to forego completely because of cost. Your return policy is awesome: the very few times I've ever gotten a defective product, you either replaced it promptly or refunded my money. Outstanding!!!Now, to the Ibanez AM 53: I am truly amazed at the quality that is present in this guitar for the $299.00 cost! First, lets hit the basic, "must-haves" for a playable & enjoyable guitar: 1. Truss rod adjusted properly; Yes! 2. Frets level, no dead spots, no sharp ends; Yes! 3. Electronics function quietly & correctly; Yes! 4. Decent, playable strings from factory; Yes! 5. Smooth, well-executed neck; Yes! Subjectively, I find the 'Matte Gloss' type of finish on this guitar beautiful. The finish is also objectively very easy on the hands, as the back of the neck is smooth, and easy to move around on. I find the sound from the pickups to be very good, especially at this price range. To my ears, they do lack a bit of 'sparkle', maybe, but it's not anything to complain about at this price! In fact, when I finally get around to changing pickups (if I do), they will cost approx 2/3 the cost of the whole guitar! The pickups sound good both clean and distorted, and with the Volume knob all the way up, along with the Tone backed down a bit gives a decent amount of 'growl' for a guitar of this style, especially into a decent tube amp. This guitar even sounds decent played purely acoustically: I love not necessarily needing to plug in just to try out an idea; I can get the feel of an electric while having a semblance of the sound of a real acoustic. My friend has an acoustic guitar amp, and I can't wait to hear it through that. Overall, easily one of the best purchases of a new guitar I've ever made. Highly Recommended!

Very pleased with the AM53. I am a newbie to guitars so I cant really comment on thehighly technical details that some reviews go into. What I can point out is that compared to a couple of other lower priced guitars I have, this AM53 far exceeds them in fit and finish, she is a beauty! Straight out of the box, a little tweaking on the tuners, plugged into my Yamaha THR10X and I am very pleased!

"One of the best guitars you can buy for a mid-entry level player"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This guitar shows off how the adversity of a semihollow and an Ibanez can meet in the middle to create an amazing duo of sound and quality. It isn't amazing once you start to move onto higher levels of playing but it is still flexible enough to serve good use to both intermediate and entry-level players. It feels well-refined with a neck that supports and works with your hand. The fretboard is not the most amazing part and can be improved on with a bit of work, but all in all, works well for the job.

Musical Background:

Playing for about 6 years, started young and working every day to improve.

Musical Style:

Heavy Metal, Folk, Country, Grunge, Hard Rock, and Alternative Rock.

"Way better than expected"

Having not touched an electric guitar in 2yrs, I wanted something "decent" that wouldn't cost a fortune. When my AM53 arrived a few weeks ago I was very pleasantly surprised, to say the least! It played great right out of the VERY well packed box. Everything, from appearance, playability and sound are spot-on. The neck is straight with no dead spots, intonation was pretty close to perfect and the matte finish on the back isn't "sticky". And the binding is perfect. The pickups sound really good and even though I was gonna replace them, they are way better than expected. I especially like the neck pickup for It's bluesy tone. The hardware is solid as well. It's obvious that no matter the price of the guitar, Ibanez takes quality seriously. Thank you zZounds for your finance plans and GREAT prices on quality guitars, amps and everything anyone who enjoys playing needs!

Been playing guitar on and off 40 plus yrs

Straight out of the box, pictures do not display the beauty and craftsmanship of this guitar. The action is perfection....seriously.The tones resonate sweetly. Whether rock, blues or jazz this can do it. I'm completely satisfied. On top of the guitars craftsmanship and sound, the price in unbelievably low. Get one, don't keep thinking about it.

A day and a half after ordering the Ibanez a delivery truck pulled up. I opened the box to expose this beauty. After admiring it's looks I plugged it in. The action is amazing right out of the box. It's more than I imagined. The price - 300...One can say it is worth double that. I AM so impressed and thrilled with it. Don't hesitate any longer..Get one for yourself

Really too big for a smaller handed gal- also, does not feel like you are playing a "real electric guitar." I have some junky ones that have better action and ease up and down the fretboard than this. I wanted to keep it based on looks alone, but I realized I was only playing acoustic songs on it.
