"Worth far more than its asking price, but check each one for quality."

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Expect to be very pleased with this guitar. I'm currently 53 and have owned 11 guitars, this one being one of the best. The electronics are first-rate, especially for this price range. Adjusted properly and put through the right system, the tone doesn't have the traditional high-end "slap" of most piezo transducers.
Sound
This guitar is a diamond in the rough. I was ready to pay 2-3 times the amount for this guitar and managed to find one that is like butter to play. The tone is not quite as round on the bottom end as a full dreadnought but its amplified sound is great through a Fender Acoustasonic Jr. and a Bose Personal Amplification System (the "pole"). I coupled the guitar with a Fishman sound hole pickup and had a luthier put the additional jack out the end pin to give maximum flexibility of sound depending on the room and PA system available at the time. The D'Addario EXP light strings are phenomenal and fast. I'd never used them before purchasing the guitar and now have them on this and another acoustic I've owned since 1977. Note: Not all guitars of the same model are as well set up on the fingerboard as mine, however, this can be easily fixed by any qualified luthier in your area. Highly recommended.
Features
The onboard B-Band electronics are very good, especially for the inexpensive price of the guitar. Instead of awkward sliders, thumb knobs are used for volume, bass, mids, treble and "shape". Very fast and instantly adjustable. Very visible in the semi-dark of off-stage or on.
Quality
Mine is the gloss black model with "fire" inlay around the sound hole. It has a minor glitch in the edge of the nut (tiny missing edge which is cosmetic only). Even though the body is nicely bound in white, the neck isn't which is a bit strange seeing as cheaper Ibanez models do have white bound necks. This doesn't affect its playability. The neck fits my hand very comfortably unlike many necks from Martin, Taylor and Takamine.
Value
More valuable than the asking price by far.
Manufacturer Support
No info on this one as yet.
The Wow Factor
The Ibanez comes in 3 finishes, black, transparent violet (quite pretty) and natural. I went with the black for the dramatic look it has for stage work. It's cutaway and medium-narrow waist make it very aesthetic to look at as well as being functional. I don't know how the lacquer-coated finish will age and what will happen to the tone, but the smell of the wood coming out of the sound hole is like ambrosia. Ibanez should be lauded for creating a gorgeous production-level guitar that should sell for about twice the price.

Ibanez AAF18 Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I entered the sound store looking at a $1100 dollar tacoma but this guitar sound many times better. And im not one of these people who buy an expensive guitar just to look like im made of money.
Features
Since it has absolutely NO. supports inside it has a curved backside. The curve resonats the music out making it sound very bright, and brilliant, and crisp.
Quality
I have had mine for over 4 years and it looks and plays just as good as the day i bought it. The keys are tight and they don't ever slip.
Value
its cheaper and better, than several higher priced guitars

"Best Bang for the Buck"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Sound
I have it teamed up with an Ibanez TC225 amp, 2-10" 50w system. What a setup it is clean, fresh sounds.
Features
I didn't care for the original strings, I was kind of happy when the G-string broke within a week. I replaced them with Elixers Light, what a diiference. I did think the strings were to high off the fret board, so I sanded the 2 piece bone, but not to much to cause fret buzz, it did help out.

I expect it to hold up for many enjoyable years. Very happy with purchase!

Pretty nice sound. Sounds a bit metallic but then again all guitars have their own unique sound.

Its got top notch features like a great preamp and useful onboard tuner. So you don't have to stop playing and grab a tuner just to tune.
Ease of Use
Very playable and slim neck. Easy to reach all frets quickly without hassle.
Quality
Well made. Sturdy mahogany and spruce. The finish protects well against wateror other stains.
Value
I got it on sale for $230. Retail is around $350-$450. I would willingly pay a lot more for it. Great value.

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
overall this is a great guitar, i'll prob'ly never get rid of it, and if it were stolen i would not buy it again i would find out who took it and take one of my other acoustics and beat them with it and get this one back!:)
Sound
The sound of this guitar with the stock D'addario exp's is amazing right out of the box, nice tone and sounds better than guitar's costing twice as much
Features
The onboard tuner is verry nice to have, havent pluged it in yet but it has a sonicore in it so it should be sweet, it also came with a extra bridge and pin
Ease of Use
pretty descent action right out of the box, like it say's in the description it has a slim neck, verry true, the frets are close for easy reaching but it took me several days to get use'd but it is well worth it
Quality
This guitar seem's to be made extremely well, i dont worry about it breaking at all
Value
this guitar is definately worth the money, even more
Manufacturer Support
have not dealt
The Wow Factor

"Beautiful guitar for a beautiful price!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I plan on buying an acoustic-electric Gibson in about a year or two because of the perfect reputation Gibson has with acoustics. I will keep this guitar until the day I die, it's a good one and can't be replaced.
Sound
has good sound for an acoustic electric, it is thinner so you don't get as nice of a crisp sound as you would as on an acoustic for the same price. Hooked up to an amp with the bass/middle/treble/shape tuned the right way, it sounds good and clear. I'm looking at getting an acoustic pedal by Boss (the AC2) just to make it sound a liitle more clear on the (non-acoustic) amp that I have and use at my church.
Features
I think the fisherman pickups are better, so I want to change it out, but the pickup already installed are perfectly fine, I would just like to upgrade my guitar a little. As far as the wood used for this guitar, it gives a nice warm, rich sound better than a few I've played priced hundreds of dollars higher.
Ease of Use
The sound is good, it plays easy (great action for the price), it works and sounds fine with everything I've played it with. If you're teaching yourself to play, this guitar makes things easy.
Quality
I've had this guitar for over a year and it's traveled who knows how many miles with me. I haven't had any problems with it. My girlfriend's dad actually dropped it from about 6 feet in the air in a gig bag and it landed diagonal with the head hitting first. Amazingly, there is only a tiny, very minor crack through the clear coat, but that is it. It is one strong guitar for the price. I have the transparent violet sunburst (prettiest thing I've ever seen). I ordered it online and when I saw it for the first time I fell in love with the color (and sound) and everthing else about it. I'll admit that the purchase of this guitar (without seeing it playing/seeing) was the dumbest and best choice I could have made.
Value
Definitely yes.
Manufacturer Support
The only reason I give it a 9 is because I haven't dealt w/ a better company YET. Otherwise, I would give it a 10.
The Wow Factor
I have seen hotter guitars (for thousands of dollars), so this would come in second compared to the higher priced guitars, but it is the hottest in its class.

"Best value in the acoustic market!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I entered the music store with a budget that would have allowed me to spend a lot more money than this guitar was priced at, but it won me over very quickly as I picked up played numerous , more exspensive guitars. It sounds crystal clear and plays easier than any other acoustic I have owned. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially for this price range.
