Nice lightweight, toneful instrument with a short scale. Lends itself to rock, country, jazz and alternative. Nice smooth and thin-fast playing neck. I've owned mine for about 6 years now and toured for two of them with this bass. I use Thomastik-Infield flatwound strings and it plays so nicely. Action is low-but not so low you can't dig in.Highly recommended. Lack of real Eq is the only drawback-that is what your amp is for. If you turn all the switches down on the bass-you essentially turn off the sound-very nice when you take a break at the gig.

I'm 62 and been playing professionally since I was 12. I teach now for the most part.

"Hofner CT series Contemporary Club Bass"

I'll keep this guitar as long as I play and then give it to my son, who by the way, plays better than me.
Sound
I set up the action on the Club bass to my liking and play it through a Boss GT-10B effects pedal board. The sounds are very good. As with any guitar that has a trapease bridge system, you can't get to aggressive on the playing attack without some buss, but you can solve that by using a heavy soft pick instead of your fingers pulling up on the strings. I learned that by watching Paul McCartney play his Hofner viola bass.
Features
I didn't find an offered hard shell case (to bad) so I had to settle for a soft but protective gig bag. And like a Les Paul's rythem/treble toggle switch, you have to learn by trying just how the slide switches on the Hofner tone control system works.
Ease of Use
This guitar plus a Boss GT-10B processor will get you any sound you're looking for plus some you never thought of.
Quality
I have a home studio and don't gig at all. If you were "on the road" as I stated before, a hard shell case would be ideal.
Manufacturer Support
I've owned Hofner's before (viola bass for one) but never had to contact the company. They make quality gear and I take good care of my things.
The Wow Factor
I like the style of the Club bass (Les Paul look-a-like) better than the Viola bass only because I feel like when I had a Viola bass, that I should only play Beatles songs. I don't feel that way with the Club bass.

"It's a Great Bass."

I plan to buy a couple of more Hofners - if the prices aren't raised.
Sound
This is a GREAT bass - a real Blues and Rock tone monster. I run mine through a Hartke Bass Attack and a Fender Rumble 100 amp. The volume, bass, treble, and rhythm/solo knobs are extremely responsive. Just the slightest tweaks result in tonal vcariations - all of which are phenominal. Hofner has done a great job with this bass.
Features
As stated above.
Ease of Use
30" scale and extremely playable.
Quality
Finish is beautiful.
Value
Definitely worth the money.
Manufacturer Support
I would Hofner's representatives to be very helpful - if there is ever a need to call upon them.
The Wow Factor
Its a Hofner - enough said.
