"Get it while you can.. Unbelievable"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Out of the box they did something most don't... limited the presets. So refreshing to only have about 50 presets that are actually pretty decent. My background - been playing for 35 years... studied classical/jazz but rocker at heart. I've won awards, toured internationally and in the states. Tone is everything to me.If there's been a piece of gear there's a good chance I have had it including HeadRush's Pedalboard and MX5.People are blown away at the sounds I get. I am not a dude that likes to fine tune settings either.SO... to the Prime. They have really thought this one through. The touchscreen is light years above all the competition. The sounds are amazing and the new IRs included are a step up over the last version. I still prefer my own IRs which were very easy to load from my dropbox account. No USB required for that. Connect directly to the cloud over your wifi.I spent about an hour and half setting up a rig last night. Played through it today and tweaked it slightly. I can do all I need from one patch... with the 2 button scene select I have 9 scenes and another 3 free pedals to toggle on and off. That is AMAZING.The interface is beautiful and there are so many options to get great sounds.I love the price too. They could easily charge A LOT more. The closest pedal that you can get like this that clones amps AND pedals is at least $400 more and has major issues. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.
Sound
Sounds as real as you can get. If it doesn't then you need to upgrade your IR and tweak your settings. You can control everything so there's no excuse. PS. I have stereo FRFR 112s I play through.
Features
I love being able to have 2 scenes for each pedal. My default rig has NINE scenes. And guess what... they don't stutter when you click them.... seamless.
Ease of Use
Out of the box the default presets will satisfy 90% of guitarists. For more advanced tone chasers like me, you'll have fun nailing that perfect sound. I play everything from classic Petty to Van Halen to Gary Moore. Wide variety and the sounds are all amazing.
Quality
Product is made very well. Solid just like the HR Pedalboard. It's slightly different. I have a anvil case for my pedalboard but the Prime will not fit in it. It's slightly larger and flatter.
Value
Unbelievable deal compared to EVERYTHING else similar. Touchscreen is awesome, sounds are amazing, cloning amps/pedals is a game changer.
Manufacturer Support
I had an issue with a used Pedalboard's USB jack. Customer support sent me a replacement so I could transfer my settings BEFORE I had to send the bad unit back. I had it for a huge gig! Awesome support. FYI: No issues since then and it's been years of constant use at hundreds of gigs.
The Wow Factor
It's a beautiful board and I wish I had it 35 years ago.

"Sounds Great"

I currently own a Quad Cortex and have previously owned an AxeFX3, Kemper and Helix. I have owned many amps. I have found all off the amp modelers/profilers to lack a certain realism, however slight. I recently purchased this Headrush Prime, looking for a less expensive, more versatile solution for a second rehearsal space. I’m very happy with this product! The interface is very intuitive and easy to understand. The build feels solid. The onboard amp/cab models are mediocre, in my opinion. To my ears, they sound very artificial and unauthentic. The effects are great, but the amp/cabs, not so much. The Prime Cloud is a different story. Although there isn’t a vast library of cloned rigs on the cloud, there are plenty and many of those sound incredible. These amp clones are absolutely free and easy to download. You can even demo play them before you download. I have cloned a few amps and OD pedals and these sound very close to the real thing. In my opinion, the Prime was able to clone my amps every bit as good as my QC does snd Kemper did. In summary, the Prime’s onboard amps are OK, but the free amp clone downloads are incredible. The build is solid and the interface is easy. It’s not a cheap item, but it’s well worth it.

It does it all, sounds great, and is built like a tank. Tones are awesome and incredibly easy to use interface display. It does so much for only $1299. Take the plunge, won't regret it. Love my Prime!

After unboxing, toss it around and write down everything you can find. You'll need that to register, and go thru the nightmare of HeadRush cloud, (which is actually inMusic). Then, you'll need to build or buy a stand, because making adjustments on the floor will kill your back. After that, expect to spend the rest of your life on youtube learning how to operate it. The presets are ok, but you'll definitely need EQ and Noise gates. It did update kind of easy. It does communicate with your pc very well. It is HEAVY. Mine is sitting top of my DSL 40CR, and it's just as wide. I'm using Charvels, Fender, Kramer, Schecter, and Ibanez thru it. Have fun...
