Stumbled onto this guitar by accident on YouTube Sunday afternoon. Saw an excellent review at Andertons UK video page. Did some homework and pulled the plug on Monday afternoon , arrived at my house Wed. morning. FAST SHIPPING. Triple Boxed! 95% reviews of this guitar are positive, you get the minor few where needs set up, which i was expecting. Came with a Gretsch inspection checklist. Slight tuning, and I was off. Set up was spot on! No too high or low, no sharp frets. Tuners hold tune! Lightweight body. Chambered, which i love. Hold sustain! Neck is similar to a Les Paul. Smooth, Fast. I played clean for awhile, until i hit the GAIN..and this axe sounds more like AC/DC than my Gibson SG. LOVE the TONE. 5 stars to Gretsch and zZOUNDS! Amazing axe for the money, honey.

I just purchased a london grey model, This is the best playing guitar out of the box that i have purchased in 5 years, no sharp frets, the nut was cut perfect, i did lower the bridge, intonation was spot on. I do not know how you can beat this guitar, it is not heavy, the best sounding pickups i have heard, they are a louder, fatter sound than filter trons. no Gibson mud tone here, not a flaw on this guitar, beautiful finish, high quality tuners, i have added a Dusenburg les trem and it fits like a glove. the neck is a little wide but front to back is thin, very comfortable. I purchased from zZounds, very fast shipping. The body is chambered cutting down the weight and adding big tone. This guitar puts a Les Paul to shame for a lot less money.

"Great Gretsch guitar"

I’ve owned a White Falcon and while I loved that guitar it was just too big. This G5222 Gretsch feels and sounds fantastic. While it has that Gretsch twang it still has a nice deep tone. Fit and finish is flawless. This guitar will support any action you want. High, low or really low. The Mahogany finish is more of a cherry red so I swapped out for the Jade Grey. Very happy with this color. Next guitar will be a similar Gretsch with a Bigsby.

Musical Background:

Professional guitarist

Musical Style:

Mainly R & B, Rock and some jazz.

"Gretsch QC is not good"

As soon as I unboxed this guitar I knew it was going right back, it had nicks and scratches on it and I could hear something rattling around in the body cavity when I would move it around. I plugged it in and played it just to see how it sounded, the pickup selector switch was cutting in and out, also the strings that Gretsch put on this felt incredibly cheap. Despite all of this the quality control tag they put on the guitar said that it had passed. zZounds customer service was stellar as always.
