In a world of 1176; LA2A; and SSL Bus Compressor clones...you don't hear much talk about the Golden Age Comp54 but you really should! Class A, it has three transformer stages and tons of character. Versatile as all hell with various attack and release settings. Multiple side chain settings can do everything from let your low end breathe to de-ess your vocals. I have two units. I will run them back to back on vocals with one set like an 1176 and the second set like an LA2A. I'll also run them on stereo busses. I love it on my drum bus, it gives great character and punch to the whole kit and really let's the snare pop shine through. I love it on my mix bus, it can stay nice and transparent while still giving a great glue. I prefer two of these units on my mix bus to the Warm Audio Bus Comp.
