First review I've ever chosen to express...Ever. I searched my city high and low over the course of a year, picking up any and all top end acoustics in search of "the one" and was fully prepared to pay accordingly,(with a hint of realism.) Taylors are very nice instruments but too tinny for me, w/ no base or boom; Martins are truly all that though nothing was screaming out to me...sans one HD-45 that rang in at like $7300 (as I said, realism)...Breedloves, Guilds, Hell, even those carbon-fiber Rain Songs...and funnily enough I hadn't really thought of Gibson cause I wasn't looking for a Jumbo, and I thought their J-45's were nice though not worth the tag. As soon as I had a Songwriter in my lap I was instantly in awe. Now, to that silly, silly individual who looked down upon this same purchase because the action was too high. They come from the factory like that and its the first thing you address to customize your new beauty. That's like test driving a Ferrari then hating the experience cause the seat was too far back!!! A missed opportunity to say the least. I purchased mine nearly 7 years ago and have said from the get go...I will have this guitar for life. The intonation, the ebony fret board, booming bottom end and crisp highs. I was so picky, so fussy about so much...this was to be "the one"... and man this thing fits the bill! The Sitka spruce grains, the rosewood back and sides, right down to the abalone rosette. Just the right touch of décor without it being too showy. I didn't want the entire thing sparkling with inlays on every inch of boarder. Perfect. My wife teases me as she often catches me eyeing over my "other set of curves". She simply doesn't understand that not only is this a beautiful piece of hand built, quality work of art...it plays like nectar! I sound like a spokesperson from Gibson. Have yet to deal with customer service (a testimony)..,though I must say its kinda sad they don't put out a publication like Taylor and Martin do. They both have such a solid fan base as well, though at least you can enjoy reading up on it. Seriously though- I stand utmost pleased with my purchase. Hands down. Sincerely, a fellow serious guitar enthusiast

"Gibson Songwriter Deluxe. Great value."
Should something happen to this instrument I would try and buy another. I also like the smaller body L-130 Gibson for fingerstyle playing.
Sound
This guitar has the gibson sound. Has good projection and is very balanced whether strummed or played fingerstyle. The fishman transducer is very good and brings out the true characteristics of the instrument. D'addario EXP-16 strings 12-53 are best.
Features
It has solid woods all round. It is solid and well constructed. Solid sitka spruce top, solid indian rosewood back and sides, african ebony fretboad and bridge with mahogany neck and pearl inlays, grover gold plated tuners.
Quality
It has a slightly orange peel clearcoat on the back. There is a knott in the front sitka spruce. Apart from those things which don't affect the performance it is well made and solid as a rock. There were not body construction faults.
Value
I got this for the same money as a Maton and less than a D28 Martin. I'm laughing. This is so well appointed compared to the others.
Manufacturer Support
I gave a five as I don't know what the Gibson factory support is like. Australia is a long way from Montana.
Musical Style:
Beatles, David Gilmour, Country, Rock/Blues

"Great piece."
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I don't really understand why yet, but I love this little 00 size quitar.
Ease of Use
For some reason this is a really comfortable quitar. I picked it up and haven't been able to put it down.
Quality
Good Gibson quality. I'm happy with trim detail.
Value
Bought it used. Would have paid more.
The Wow Factor
I very pretty slightly non-traditional design. A small more ornate guitar that is not in the stratosphere in price.
Musical Background:
partime on call semi-pro
Musical Style:
anything, but I love to play the blues
