The guitar was setup right out of the box. Action was really low; it was well intonated. That's rare for new guitars; Gibsons included. It could use some fine tuning for your liking, but what guitar doesn't? It also has a chunky neck. Not 50s, but it's still chunky. My Gibson SG Diablo Tremolo has the rounded profile, but it's not this chunky. :]I tuned it down to C#, and the tone is very dark. Very resonant. Colors, and woodgrain vary with Gibsons, and I like that. Mine is a very nice shade of Vintage Cherry, and it has some nice woodgrain. Overall, I'd say this is a must have for any Tony Iommi, or SG fan. I can't afford the Custom Shop version, but this one isn't a bad second choice. Get yourself one today!
Sound
It is a very top quality guitar. You can hear how resonant it is. My example was quite light. It responds quite well to dynamics. It has a very dark, and deep tone. Gibsons are known for that great Mahogany sound. You can play just about any genre on it.
Features
I'm not sure there any least useful parts. Mahogany body. Mahogany neck. Rosewood fingerboard. What's not to like?
Ease of Use
It's pretty easy to get great sounds from it. Plays great. Sounds great. May just need a setup to your liking; as is with all guitars.
Quality
It is a very well made product. There are a couple of small cosmetic things, but that's common for Gibsons. They're handmade.
Value
Definitely. I like how close the P90s are, and the chrome covers. The wrap-around bridge with the adjustable saddles are great.
Manufacturer Support
Gibson is a great company. I've bought many of their products. I'd recommend always calling them instead of emailing if you really need something.
The Wow Factor
I'd rate it 10/10. It's a sweet looking guitar. You could live without it, but why would you?

The P90 pickups have always been my favorite but the set in this Tony Iommi SG really sound perfect. You can get about any tone you are looking for. It plays so smooth and easy. The only complaint I have is the monkey sticker that came in my right hand guitar case is made for a left hand guitar. I have emailed Gibson to see if that is standard for all guitars they send out. Waiting to hear back about it. I have ordered a bunch of gear from zZounds and always get it fast. Really love my Tony Iommi monkey SG. YOU HAVE TO GET ONE IF YOU WANT A GOOD PLAYING AND SOUNDING SG.

It's f****** awesome, I feel like if Tony iommi's name wasn't on this guitar it would have been about.. $1,500 to $1,999 dollars but with that said I'm extremely happy that I own it and it's f****** awesome I like that it's a very clear single coil and it's got a little kick to it too when you want it for metal it's basically a very versatile guitar

I was so happy to order this guitar as Tony Iommie is one of my all time favorite guitarist. So I ordered the guitar on zZounds and ..Holy cow I got it in 2 days so happy I was . Then to my dismay the neck was warped but ok l will ajust it but no !so warped can't loosen neck enough !## guitar will not stay in tune ! G , B and E strings will not stay in tune for more then 2 chord changes! So called customer service and because it was more then 90 days over !! No help from zZounds . Please don't buy this cheap piece of garbage it is a 125 dollar guitar with Tony Iommie Singnature on it. Sorry Tony you got dooped!! And so did I . Bankruptcy was best for Gibson total garbage. Unless you want a cheap guitar with a Singnature on it to hang on your wall!! Do not buy if you plan on playing this junk !!

I left a fairly nasty review about this guitar when I first got it, and wanted to ammend it to a degree. I have since had my guitar tech do a good setup (the factory one was pretty lazy) and with that this is really an excellent playing guitar. So much so that I've decided to keep it and just change my hand position to make it work with the flat profile I don't like. I've still got to take at least one star off for Gibson lying about the profile which is an absurd thing to do, and I'm not real happy with the return policy, but this is really an excellent guitar despite those things and I'm glad I gave it a chance.

First off, this is a nice guitar and there's nothing wrong with the workmanship. I grew up on Sabbath and SG's. I was REALLY excited to buy this guitar. I couldn't play the Epiphone Iommi signature because it had the wide flat D shaped neck like a '61 and it doesn't fit my hands. This was advertised as being based on his '65 that had a rounded profile (I own 2 SG's with this profile and LOVE them) so I immediately paid $2400 cash on my easy pay account in good faith and ordered it. Beautiful guitar. Probably sounds great but I never even plugged it in because as soon as I pulled it out of the case I felt that super wide flat '61 neck and knew I'd never play it. Disappointed to say the least my dream guitar turned out to be something it wasn't supposed to be, I immediately called to see about sending it back. I was told I'd have to pay shipping (which I would have done since the misleading advertising was on Gibson's part and not theirs) and they wouldn't refund my cash and reinstate my account the way it was, basically just giving me store credit instead. I looked it up and that technically follows their policy. I suppose I can't fault that, I own a lot of gear now I wouldn't have otherwise if it weren't for that plan. It's just disappointing to say the least, especially right on the heels of the disappointment of the guitar. Anyway, if you like the '61 Special you'll probably love this guitar; it's clearly a fine instrument. If you think you're gonna get a '65 rounded neck profile you'll wind up like me choosing between having a $2400 painting hanging on your wall or the hassle of selling it on Reverb. My low rating is not for the quality of the guitar but because it isn't as advertised which means a lot more in these times when you can't go to a store and try before you buy on a lot of gear. You just have to roll the dice. Who knows, maybe mine was an aberration and they accidentally stuck the wrong neck on it and you'll have better luck. Just be careful.
