This guitar is sick! The warm tone I have been able to get is exactly what I was looking for in a guitar. I had to re-work my effects rig to get the exact sound I wanted but, it's just incredibly creamy and warm all the way through. For the price, the ability to play while I pay, and the quality that goes along with any Gibson, this guitar looks and sounds amazing. For those of you who want to get a creamy, warm distortion with great clarity and awesome sustain this is the guitar for you....and definitely the guitar for me!

"Mean looking guitar with an in your face tone!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

I'll play it 'til I break it. I may swap pickups for SD P-90s in the future
Sound
I specifically bought this guitar for the P-90s. Nothing sounds like a P-90. Especially on an all mahogany body with the great feel of an SG. I've wanted a Les Paul Jr (so ridiculously over-priced, and only 1 pup) to get that Mick Jones sound from The Clash's 1st album. Bridge pickup has a great snarl with EL34 tubes. Sounds awesome with EL84s too, possibly better. Neck Pup better on clean tone has warm soft tone. Distorted neck good for bluesy leads w/delay.
Features
Guitars made in th USA should come with hardshell case!!! Gigbags are pretty useless to me.
Ease of Use
Truss rod, saddles, bridge height, pickup height are easily adjusted. Out of box the guitar was way out of whack, but nice thing about new guitars in my estimation is they're easier to set up. Even for a player, not a tech, like myself. Easier not easy.
Quality
I keep hearing horror stories about the Quality Control at Gibson, but I the SG Tribute seems to be made to be abused and played, not lustfully drooled upon. I have no complaints. I've always liked Deluxe tuners, I've avoided the SG Classic b/c of those cheap 'First Act' type tuners. Nitro finished feels different from lacquer, but acceptable. I do prefer lacquer, but for this price...
Value
For a Gibson SG, YES! But should come with HSC.
Manufacturer Support
I've been playing Gibson guitars since 1990, and have never had to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
In worn white it looks menacing.

Sound
I think any SG has that Sound that comes with A "Solid Body Guitar" which is what the SG was Named for. I have had several SG's and really Love them as for style and ease of use they Hang well and thier Balanced for Jammin' Man... Those P90's are The Cat's Meow and Thier Humbuckers, Steve Lover knew what to do when Les Paul invented these things Dual Coil Feedback poled in both directions... Ya.....
Features
Most of the Hardware is average to Good for Gibson although they have hardware for Les Pauls that is Better... I like Grovers myself the R80 I believe they are are 18:1 ratio which is about right for me... The Stop tail piece could be the fine tune tail piece which enables it to pull it into the right harmonics...
Ease of Use
I ahve No Problem with an SG whatsoever..... End of Statement...
Quality
Les Pauls are top of the Line but these are Next on My List....
Value
Hey I paid 400 for an Epiphone SG This is twice as good at Twice the Price... Not to Shabby Man...
Manufacturer Support
They could extend the Warrenty Period to three years and it would alright with me....Lol..
The Wow Factor
Soon I'll get theis One...
