"Perfect Guitar"

The "new" Gibson is certainly producing its best guitars in 20 years, and this beautiful 2020 SG Standard is proof. Flawless finishing, perfect fretwork, and the Pelham Blue finish is amazing. Mine came with a hard case, not the softshell case indicated by the listing. I've also bought a Les Paul this spring, it's no joke that Gibson is back.

"I love this guitar!"

the guitar is great, it is so light mine weighs 6lbs 1oz. It is by far my favorite guitar that I own. Not just because of the weight. My example will scream of back off and sound jazzy. I love it. I see myself giving this to one of my daughters one day. It is a truly great sounding, great built, it is everything I was looking for. The weight is a serious plus in my book, if you play any amount of time its great. Anyone who says an SG isn't balanced must keep their strap low because that's the only way I can get it to neck dive. Any guitar that you adjust the strap the same as when you are sitting will not neck dive at all in my experience. It's only when you wear the strap rally low that I have had any problems so I just started doing it the same as when I am sitting. The neck is thicker than most of the other SG's I have played but it is PERFECT for me. I absolutely love this guitar if I haven't said it already. If you buy this you will not be disappointed.

"Best SG I’ve Had"

This a great guitar! I have had so many bad Gibsons over the last few years so I was nervous about ordering this sight unseen but was very happy when it arrived i am very satisfied with the quality of this particular Gibson. I actually can not find a flaw on this guitar anywhere. The finish is perfect,. The frets are perfect, no sharp edges, no flat spots. Binding is good. The nut is cut properly. Setup was perfect out of the box. No need to replace nut. This SG is light and well balanced. No neck dive. Furthermore the 490 series pickups are my favorite Gibson pickup and work well with SG’s, in my opinion. I have no complaints about this SG and will happily say this is probably the first Gibson I have owned that does not require any additional set up or thoughts of exchanging for something else.I am glad to took a chance on buying this exclusive SG standard. Too bad Gibson doesn’t offer consistency when producing their guitars because this SG is what a quality guitar from Gibson should be no matter what model or level you buy.

Was able to tune and play right out of box. I did change the strings and clean the fretboard later. Setup seems a little high but otherwise right. No flaws in the finish a fine guitar. Good fretboard, no bad frets. Mine came with the soft bag. Used zZounds 12 payment plan. Makes it easy on me. To anyone who wants an SG, this is a good guitar.

"Terrible QC on this Model."

I have been wanting a Pelham Blue SG forever, and just had this one delivered from Zzounds today. Unfortunately, it is a 2019 model being sold as brand new in 2021. The finish has some spots in it, like they lacquered over a couple of pieces of lint. The binding is both dented and peeling away from the fretboard in spots. The guitar is in bad need of a setup. On the bright side, zZounds customer support is terrific. Terribly disappointed in this guitar though. Sort of what I would expect from a $300-500 guitar. Certainly not a $1500 guitar.

"Over priced junk!"

1st let’s start with the United boxing. You pull your new Made in the USA Gibson from the box in its nice Made in China leather soft case, it’s not a bag but not a case but kind of both, Then I started inspecting the guitar. Let’s start off with the finish. Flaws all over the place, a ripple here, a smudge there, not enough in spots too heavy in other spots, many flaws in the finish, now let’s move on to the factory set up (you get a nice picture of the guitar on the work bench being set up at the factory) well if you play slide the action might be perfect because you could stick a pinky finger under the strings they action was so high, and the bridge pick up, was adjusted so high, it was literally touching the strings, not even joking, I look at the back and more flaws in the finish, I notice the back plate is sticking out, not seated in its spot flush with the body, so I go to check that out, and see why it’s not sitting properly, and the edges underneath are rough they painted over wood chips and sawdust, absolutely horrible shame... Ok while I checked that out, I was expecting to see some nice pots and orange drops, ITS A CIRCUIT BOARD! So you’re going to have to replace that cheap crap. Ok, plate is sitting flush now, still checking out paint flaws, yep neck pocket as I expected, go further down the neck, yup, found a dimple, where they didn’t fill with filler, and just painted over it probably hoping it would fill it in. Ok let’s move on to the tuners, absolute junk, you’re going to want to throw those out, let’s move to the bridge, the intonation is so bad, the action is so bad, the whole fit and finish is so bad it’s unplayable. It’s like driving a drunk without power steering, it’s atrocious! The bridge, is API, but the heavy weight feeling, it’s not there, this hardware is light as a feather. Yeah it’s cheap pot metal, made of mostly air! If you know what I mean by pot metal, If you don’t, well, it’s any metal that they can dump in the pot and melt. It’s cheap garbage, I’ve seriously had better quality control, and better fit and finish, from China! There is a screw sticking out of the pick guard by the neck, it’s not all the way in, because it’s stripped out.. It won’t go in... strap buttons, the back strap button screw rounded out, like the shop didn’t set the slip clutch on the drill, and the bit chewed the screw out. I’m so passed, this is not only a factory defective guitar, a flaw, a quality control failure, and blemish, it’s a dog gone shame. It’s pathetic, and shameful that you proudly stamped made in America on this hunk of junk, and charge what you charge. That’s it for you Gibson, they said Gibson was back in 2020.. I assure you they are not, at least not the Nashville plant. Maybe the Memphis has their stuff together but Nashville is sending junk out the door. It’s freaking embarrassing! I’d rather buy a Korean ESP copy, slap some PAFs in it and you’ll have a better guitar, better craftsmanship, better quality fit and finish, all around. This wasn’t resealed, this came from the factory this way, they sent this sh*t box out the door, and took a picture of it, and put it in the case, like they have pride in this craftsmanship! A Mexican strat is made better, an Indonesian Yamaha is made with more pride than this junk! I’m done with Gibson. I will be asking for a return, or exchange, this guitar is horrible, and I’m not going to put another 500 bucks into upgrades, and set ups, and fixings factory flaws, just to make it a playable instrument. Nope for 1500 bucks, I expect to take it out of the box, and play it! QC let this crap go out the door! How! They took a picture of it on the work bench!?! Definitely going to let zZounds know it’s defective, and ask for a return or exchange. For 1500 bucks, I’m ticked off! I used to love Gibson’s, had a 335, a Jr, a LP traditional. All were good instruments, this, is junk don’t buy it! Circuit board for the pots, plug n play circuit board! Jeeeeeeez!!....
