Beautiful instrument. I had a 1965 model that looked exactly like this version. I bought it from a private party in 1968. 1961 SG Standards did NOT have that Tailpiece. In 1961 SGs were still labeled 'Les Pauls' and featured the earlier Sidepull Vibrato!

"A Legend"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I purchased this guitar from none other than Mel Bay at his Kirkwood, Missouri store in about 1963 for $200. My father played in a band and through a fluke, he knew one of the instructors who was giving a lesson when we visited the store. I suspect I received a good deal because of this connection. What a classic guitar purchased from a legend in his own right!
