OK....FINALLY, after initially ordering and Epihone 3 ultra, returning it, getting replacement, returning that one (major design flaw with that guitar), I finally settled on this model Gibson SG. Now I want to say I was weary about this. I had an Epiphone 400Pro SG that was so neck heavy, that it was just not comfortable to play standing up. I tried the 2015 LP Studio and almost went with that, but the wider neck was cumbersome, and it didn't thrill me. I read some reviews on this 2013 model that were good and saw some demo videos....So I pulled the trigger and ordered heritage cherry (of course) and a gator dase. Total came to 800$. Arrived today and I unboxed it. The first thing was the weight! It is so light and balanced, I just couldn't believe it. I inspected it thoroughly and was pleased with the satin finish and craftsmanship. Really something to behold! Instead of fiddling, I went straight to Sacramento Guitar center to see the best Luthier in town Larry. He set it up, restrung it, etc. i plugged it in and it was flat out incredible. The BB 1 & 2 do their jobs and let you know this is definitely a Gibson! Now the sorta bad part. The G string is having trouble being completely intonated correctly. We pushed the saddle back all the way, but its still a small pinch sharp. We're gonna work on it tomorrow, so that should be a non problem by then. The e-Tune thing...I guess it does its job, but it ain't growing on me. Its the first gen of this device, so its still a little...glitchy. It works.....its just a little clunky. Taking it off voids the warranty BTW. But other than that, I'm really happy with this guitar. Its a true rocker and a literal comfort to play! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an entry level Gibson in a second. Just remember to plan on taking to a professional for an initial set up, and take some time to learn that E-Tune.

Menacing black ebony and gleaming chrome. The SG is a masterpiece of tone, playability, looks and comfort. The Burstbucker pickups rule over any style of music that flows from your fingertips. At this price, why aren't you already playing one?
Sound
The Burstbuckers provide an extremely well balanced attack that covers a ton of tonal territory while always reminding you of one simple truth: This is an SG baby!
Features
MinETune. I like it. It's easy and it works. FYI...If you are like me and set up every guitar you get you must make sure the guitar is perfectly intonated using the bridge adjustments for the MinETune to function at its best. 24 frets. Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups. 2 volume, 2 tone controls and a 3 way switch.
Ease of Use
Slight learning to using Min E Tune and changing the strings on the Min E Tune locking posts but all else is your typical guitar.
Quality
Excellent quality.
Value
At these clearance prices the value and quality cannot be matched.
Manufacturer Support
Gibson support is great.
The Wow Factor
Hot and sexy in black and chrome.

This guitar is amazing! The MinE-Tune works like a charm and stays in tune quite well. The pickups respond with the slightest change of the tone or volume control - you can really shape the sound. Thie finish on the body and neck is very consistent and without scratches - it was shipped with solid protection.

"Great guitar for the price"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

It came in a very good packaging, delivered as expected. As all SG's, it is just a plank of wood with a neck, with nice grains and a discrete and classy look to it. Just Right. The truss rod came completely loose from factory and the bridge was set way to high. I used a straight edge and a filler gage to transfer the setup from another "plecked" guitar that have and the results are amazing: Very low action, no buzz and that great classy SG sound. The mini e-tune works like a charm, being more precise than I expected. All in all, a great guitar for the price.
