I wish I had as much talent as I have had guitars! You name it I have owned it at one point in my over 5 decades of life. I won’t name them. You know the brands. I admit, through its ups and downs, I have always been partial to Gibson. Love the shorter scale length, the handmade vibe and, of course, the real nitrocellulose. Last year I bought a new Les Paul Classic and just love it. Beautiful quality, sound and playability. So decided I needed a new Gibson acoustic. Looked at all of them, decided on the J-15 as it seemed a perfect combination of Gibson heritage, quality and value. I was right! Incredible looks, excellent flawless craftsmanship, incredible tone and easy playability. Perfect out of the box! If you are thinking about a J-15 I’d say do it! I love mine. Gibson is back! I currently own 4 newer production Gibsons and love them all. My J-15 is a keeper. zZounds is great. My instrument was factory fresh and shipped fast. Couldn’t be happier. Buy American!

My first Gibson acoustic and I am really into this guitar right off the bat! Currently own or have had Taylor, Martin, Takamine, Alvarez, PRS, etc and wanted a slope shoulder short scale. J15 checked all the boxes and video reviews on the web seemed to have the tone profile my ear preferred even compared to the J45 icon.Opening up the case, its beautiful.. The sunburst paint job was perfect, walnut back/sides had good grain and appearance as well. Build quality was on point, cant find any finish, etc things or dings anywhere on it. Must admit I thought Taylor sent the best initial set-up guitars, but this J15 was the best out of the box I have ever experienced. Will not need a set up.. Spot on/literally perfect right from the factory. Super low action at 1st and 12th frets, no buzzes, perfect neck relief and play so easy. Frets via Plek work and rolling of fingerboard edges are smooth. Neck carve and radius is also very comfortable to me with my smaller hands..Tone being subjective, to my ears its well balanced and has enough low end boom that it fits the Gibby profile. J15 seems to have a little more treble ring compared to J45 which I like. Walnut seems to be a good tone wood with great sustain and growl when needed. One thing I feel it does lack is overtones or bloom compared to rosewood/hog. Its a very dry tonal pallet like maple (but without that maple overly bright tendency). Now my only two knocks. Neck being painted and nitro finished can feel sticky, guess I have gotten used to all the natural/satin necks lately and prefer those. The case is also a little on the lower end compared to other mfgs.Overall if your looking for a slope shoulder or Gibson acoustic, feel good about giving this model a shot! The J15 is a winner and they are producing some good stuff right now out of Montana
