"Best purchase ever!"

First of all, the 18 payment plan by ZZ is phenomenal, simple, and extremely convenient for a big purchase like this. ZZ kept me informed via email on the approval of the plan, and let me know as soon as it was shipped. It was scheduled to be delivered on the 2nd day as promised but FedEx had to delay it due to weather, no fault to ZZ, but ZZ emailed me immediately and let me know. The guitar arrived and was double boxed, with the original Gibson packaging unopened. The guitar I received was impeccable. Absolutely flawless. The fretboard on mine is dark, almost like ebony. Completely stunning. Came with all the extra candy you’d expect, the baby photo from the factory, QC card, etc. My guitar was a current production, made in April 2022, came tuned and perfectly set up… ready to play right out of the box. If you’re on the fence about it, buy it! You won’t regret it! Hats off to zZounds and Hats off to Gibson!

"Gibson Les Paul Studio Black-n-Gold"

Well, this model had everything I wanted. Black and shiny. Gold hardware. Grovers. And my favorite pickups, 498T and 490R. Fit and finish was good.Frets had no sprout and were well leveled and polished at the factory. And the coil taps are a nice feature. The only thing I didn’t like was the soft case. After leaving my guitar in it for over a month without playing, when I opened it up, the guitar was covered in a white haze. I am suspecting off-gassing from the materials in the lining.I now get to look for a case, which makes this guitar less of a bargain.

"I'm pretty blow away"

First, I need to say that zZounds has taken care of me and gone above and beyond any expectations in my recent purchases. I made two big returns prior to buying this Les Paul and zZounds did an amazing job. I've heard stories about issues on payment plans and returns - not for me though. They went above what they needed to do for me. So on to the guitar... Wow. The photos don't do this thing justice. I've been playing for over twenty years and never cared for Gibson guitars much. I also realize now I've never played one above their lowest end faded or lpj type guitars - what a mistake! I'm literally angry right now that I didn't buy one sooner because I'm pretty sure I've set myself back years in playing ability by not owning one. I've owned fenders and they're great too, but nothing like this. I mostly played cheaper asian guitars because I was a shredder type. This is a whole other instrument.Action and setup were 9/10 out of box which is impressive. I'm also impressed by Gibson's stock strings - I'm considering changing. It's setup for 9s out of box. Don't be put off by the gig bag, this is an impressive bag. the fit and finish on the guitar are perfect. It really couldn't be better. People saying 490r and 498t are a bad combo are snob elitests who have no idea what they're talking about. These pickups are perfect. This is a REAL guitar. Nothing else I've ever owned even comes close. zZounds, you need to do something about your cameras because your photos do not do this thing justice! I had apprehensions about gold hardware or do I want a honey burst LP tribute... No regrets now after seeing the thing. Played till my fingers were raw now I have to wait a day before I pick it up again!

"Perfection at Last"

I've been playing for 57 years and I've finally found my guitar. Perfect neck for my hands, perfect tone for my ears, and if looks could kill, this thing would be guilty of mass murder.I may be wearing diapers and dribbling pea soup down my bib in another ten years, but until then I'm not coming out of my woodshed unless this beauty needs a re-fret. I'm a dedicated Gibson man now, for sure. Boys and girls, don't run out and buy a three hundred dollar guitar; save up for a real guitar and keep it for life.

"Will be my backup axe for my Shred LP"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

It lacks the locking tremolo my black Gibson Les Paul shred model has, but it has the same killer setup and pickups. I slightly stress over tuning but having two for future shows will take a huge load off of my deranged mind for a minute. I absolutely enjoy every moment I've spent on my Gibson. The tones I can get it to do through a Marshall and Blackstar setup through a Bigshot aby and some effects pedals keeps me recording new material. I do know this - when you can write songs, keep writing until you can't, as writer's block will happen as it has for me before. I appreciate zZounds customer service. I've never had a problem with anything as to stuff being bad or broken and/or needing a return. If I returned something, it had to do with a need or it not working for my setup not anything on their end. As a lead guitarist, this guitar sings and punches through the mix in a way other axes I have owned (Fender, Kramer, Jackson, PRS and Ibanez). Looking forward to breaking it in and recording something. Gibson's warranty is as solid as their products. Glad they have returned from the bankruptcy. Thank you very much, Gibson. Happy customer.
Sound
I get a beautiful, almost liquid-metal / molten-metal type tone when it feedbacks. As a music producer, that is heaven.
Features
I least like the middle pickup switch setting. Never use it. Either with the bridge or with the neck not both. Maybe a rhythm guitarist might, but I'm a lead guitarist.
Ease of Use
It's as easy to get great tones as simply plugging it in, tuning it and doing whatever it is you like playing. Mine was set up perfectly. I've made no adjustments on it. Perfect. Shocked me.
Quality
Gibson has a great warranty. I had an issue with my bridge pickup pot. Gibson mailed me the replacement for it and who I can have it installed. They back up what they build. That proved it to me. I've had problems with businesses cheating me on their warranty. Not Gibson.
Value
Find yourself a way to buy this guitar, or another Gibson model. Pull up your bridge pickup knob for your single coil "Strat" tone. I do. I played Strats for years. Better, in my opinion. You will appreciate the budget you did for yourself so you can own one. Even if you gotta learn how to cook. I'm a guy, didn't much, but it's saved me hundreds a month, as has quitting cigarettes (sing better). Did those two things and buying this Gibson happened for me. Make it happen for you! Buy this guitar.
Manufacturer Support
Yes to all. ESP is also great, but Gibson is on-line and as professional. Martin too. Gibson stacks up with both, as I've had to call all three in the past couple of years.
The Wow Factor
Reliability sells me and a need for another guitar should I break the string on the only one I own is critical for self- confidence playing live. I have another guitar should one go out of tune or a string break. That's the deal breaker that had me buy this. Thank you, zZounds (Tim).

"Gibson Quality"

I was excited to receive this guitar, my first Gibson. FedEx delivery, three days from ordering it. Let it sit for twenty four hours in the box to acclimate. It was fairly well packed, guitar was in a leather-like softcase (very nice). Took the guitar out of the case and noticed a powdery substance on both the front and the back. Further inspection and I noticed the front and the back of the guitar had a lot of scratches. Pick guard showed more scratches and one very deep that I could put a fingernail in. It appears this guitar was either a demo or a return and sold as new. I was extremely frustrated as it appears someone tried to polish or buff the scratches away and even got polish on the fretboard and inside the serial numbers. I tried cleaning it up the best I could with a microfiber towel but some oily type of residue remains as well as some dried whitish gunk on the cutouts...grossed out. Called zZounds and was told guitars do not get inspected by their employees so I'm guessing Gibson is either sending out guitars in this condition or this was sent from some store zZounds works with. Either way, this was a huge letdown, expected much more from Gibson especially since they've made a new commitment to their customers as their financial situation becomes dire. Well, this isn't going to help them much. I've have a few guitars from expensive PRS, Fenders, and a much cheaper Epi which came in in pristine condition. I'm now debating whether I should exchange it or move on to another brand. This is unconscionable. Not sure if this an issue with zZounds or Gibson. Hopefully the exchange will be better but I feel a bit reluctant to try again. Called zZounds got very little support and forget calling Gibson, phone rings but no one ever answers.

My 10 month old Gibson Les Paul Studio has circuit board issues. That's right. It has a circuit board behind the control knobs. It's only a 65 mile trip, one way, to the nearest authorized repair facility, with gas at $4.25 a gallon. What are the chances I only have to make that trip once.Gibson's quality is everything you've heard it is.Buyer beware!

"Back Breaker"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I owned an 86 Les Paul Studio model. Nothing sounded better and the action and feel of it was everything I expected. However, it was much too heavy for me. I couldn't perform for very long on stage with it because it was a real back breaking experience. So, I ended up trading it in.
Sound
My first Gibson was an 86 Les Paul Studio and nothing sounded better nor felt better playing in my opinion. However, the studio model weighs allot more and that in itself left me trading it in because it was a back breaker having to stand and perform with it.
Value
Not as good as the standard Les Paul.
