First of all, I ordered the guitar later on in the afternoon---it showed up on my doorstep less than 24 hours later!!! Very impressive shipping!! Out of the box, the finish was flawless. The action was a little high for my preference, but the set up wasn't too bad, still plays great, very fast neck...the neck is straight as an arrow. Frets are nicely dressed, no sharp edges and crowned perfectly. The pickups (P90's) can scream but turn the volume down on the guitar, and they bleed out some tasty blues sounds!! GREAT BLUES GUITAR!!--HOWEVER----this guitar can rock your socks off!! Blues, Metal, Southern Rock, even some "chicken pickin" country, this axe has it all covered. What are you waiting for?? GET ONE NOW WHILE THEY ARE STILL AVAILABLE!!! Even the "gig bag" is pretty nice...lots of padding...

"Nice guitar"

This guitar is very nice. Plays easily and neck is fast. Fret ends were nicely finished and color blue is great. You can see the wood grain under the blue stain. I expect this will be even nicer with age. The pickups are a little on the bright side but taking out some treble and increasing the mids on the amp took care of that. The guitar is not as heavy as the old Les Pauls but it's pretty close. It's not as light as a Strat or Tele, but even with the weight it's comfortable. Sounds can range from Blues to 50's rock to jazz. It handles all of them easily. Gig bag it comes with is the traditional black zippered bag with Gibson on the side. Jack socket is nicely set as well not loose at all. I am coming from mainly Strat, Tele, Jazzmaster guitars. This is right up there with my Les Pauls.

Omg, what a pleasant surprise! I ordered this on a whim, because it looks really cool. I'm a Les Paul Standard and Custom guy, but this is a cool little rock machine.....blues or anything else as well. Plays really well, neck is straight, and overall just a comfortable guitar to play. Sounds amazing! Very pleased.

"THE REAL DEAL!"

So first, a shout-out to zZounds. To say that I am a loyal customer would be an understatement. 4 Guitars, Recording Equipment, Pedals, Cases and much more. As always, the delivery was fast, excellent packing, and arrived in perfect condition. So I am a Senior guy, and playing guitar since I was about 10. Even with that said, I still consider myself an intermediate level player because of the number of incredible guitarist out there. I have played in bands, on and off over the years, and do exclusively home recording these days. Like you might expect, I have owned some high-end guitars over the years, including Gibson, Fender American, and PRS. I am primarily a blues guy, but also love Latin Rock. . The unboxing was fun as always, and after an initial inspection, I found the guitar in absolutely perfect condition. I got the Satin Blue, and it is exactly as advertised. This is a no frills working guitar, yet it really is very, very nice.. The tuners are tight, slip free, and excellent gear ratio. The neck is incredible if you like the slim taper. The Frets are clean and perfect. The fretboard is smooth (will require conditioner like all new Rosewood.) Although I tend to have my guitar strings a bit higher then many players, but this came a bit high even for me. Took me all of 5 minutes to lower a bit, then back in business. The Ax plays and sounds amazing! The P-90's are incredible! I have owned a Gibson Blues Hawk with P-90's, but like this guitar much better than I did the Hawk.. Sustain is great, no fret buzz, and plays and sounds like a Gibson should. At this this price, having this guitar in my collection is a crazy good deal. What can I say? JUST GET IT!

"Not so hidden treasure"

Mine was delivered yesterday,I got the blue one because I’m overwhelmed with black and white guitars haha. This thing is awesome! The pickups are amazing, not too trebly and they don’t have that midrange honk I usually associate with Les Pauls, they clean up REAL nicely when using the guitars volume control, and even distorted you can hear each note distinctly. Bridge and neck are both useful,no problems with any controls, the wood even looks great. The neck is a tad thicker than the slim 60’s style, but I like them that way so score a point for that too. The only problem I might have is with the tuners ratio being not what I’m used to,but that’s a very minor beef and it holds a tune anyways once the strings are stretched. Some guitar player friends were over when I unpacked it and of course they got to play it,they universally loved the thing,so that’s a good sign.. it’s acoustically loud and for electric slide guitar I can’t think of anything better than this axe,I tuned her to open E and let it rip through my old Bedrock and it sounded sublime.. definitely recommend this guitar!!

Hey, it makes a great table! You need that when writing riffs on the fly! Kill switch stutter effect, no! 1 master volume, 1 master tone, you can't do it. Swells, mmm not bad. Stays in tune pretty well. You can swap P-90 for a humbucker. Open up the pick guard, lots of room. Unbranded pots behind that pick guard. Love the jack location!7lbs 10.1 oz Bridge pick up has a nice classic crunch. Volume shuts off at 1. In between settings is perfect for tone. 3 switch all the way down is super bright. Can be quite muddy, like your ears are muffled on 1st switch. Distorted tone is ACDC all the way. Can't stand the gig bag out came with. Too big! Made the mistake of purchasing a SG case. LOL not going to fit ever, too big.The frets 1-9 are sticking out a bit. Could have happened by drying out. Not a big deal. Over all for the price, it's not bad for professional gigging.

"Great guitar, highly underrated"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have one and it is definitely better than I expected. Neck is great, and the range of tones possible was pleasantly surprising. It is lighter and more fun to play than a standard or studio les Paul and does have a sound all it’s own. I could understand someone bringing this to a gig in addition to a more expensive studio/standard and preferring this one for certain songs that suit it’s character more. That’s the kind of “uniqueness” I mean.

This guitar is a great axe. Everything on it is perfect. Tone is to kill for and can handle any style easily. Not sure why Gibson discontinued it but they usually kill off all the good ones. Glad I bought it when it was around. It is my major guitar now and really fun to play.

"Gibson Tribute DC"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

I have to say that I really love this guitar. I have had several other Gibson's in the past that were fine instruments. But each one had something lacking. The 335's were just too big, the Standard LP's were too heavy, the ES175 had a chunky neck that I didnt care for. This one is just right, not too heavy, not too big, loads of tone, great neck. The only reason I gave it 3 stars for quality is because of the fret work. The fret ends were way too sharp out of the box to play. Lucky for me that I know how to do this myself (I build custom guitars). After addressing that issue I restrung with a new set of strings and have been very happy. Thanks to zZ for making it affordable with the payment options. I'll be purchasing more gear after this is paid off.
