Do wish I had better specs on this guitar:Is this a high end guitar? no. Its a studio! but, don't let that fool ya. it will play what you want. Don't get caught up with the marketing term "Shred". or you will miss out on a nice versatile instrument. Is it what you would expect from this price point of modern day Gibson? Yes. although Gibson has been known for - not so pristine craftmanship. the one i have is really nice...i've seen new standards, classics, etc. that were much worse. keep in mind this is not a polished guitar in any sense of the word. you will see wood that is not as smooth as some. especially around the heel joint and back side of the headstock. Cavities are surprising very clean. Matte finishWill it stand up to harsh environments? Yes. It is stout. Please note the headstock is longer than most Gibson's to compensate for the locking nut and be able to put a bell truss rode cover on. So, do with that info as you will. Is mine used for gigging...you bet ya! can take just this one and my little Mesa...one trip in and one trip out...easy peasyWill it stay in tune? ah...YES, Very well. what you would expect from a locking system. Electronics? you will notice that they are not the best. if you try to roll off the tones all the way you may not get what you want...unless muddy and flubby is your desire. I personally, would only roll about half on this guitar, if that. Pull pops- I really don't prefer these as I do on my Custom and Trad Pro. having said that: I will not be changing electronics.Pickups? they are really ok; like very ok!...for me. I will not be changing them. They will push an amp a bit...but not adversely...used on: Mesa Mark5 25, Various Fenders, Quilters, and Hughes and Kettners. Body? Oh yea...the chambered body is a plus...weight relief without the threat of neck dive...Gibson hit this spot on. Matte finish...really nice new...but, be aware that after time oils from hand will make shiny spots where they frequently touch. Neck? My first Richlite...Its real nice...and for those didn't know...this neck is bound with black binding...See what I mean about limited spec info?! I thought the edges were a little rough, thought it was fret sprout, as looked closer in the light...ah there it is...I did what do with all new neck bound Gibson...I smooth the edges for that worn in feel...easy to do and unnoticeable to the eye...ah sweet Overall: Remember this is an exclusive spec Gibson...Blacked out...this is not a regular Gibson Studio with a Floyd. That in itself is worth something and must be considered or mentioned. for me Exclusives, Special Runs etc are the ones to consider if they meet your fancy. I am glad to say: I am a proud owner of one! Hope this helps...my scoring is based on Studio models...I am in no way going to be unfair and try to score against another Gibson model.

I have been wanting a Floyd Rose loaded Les Paul for quite some time now. However, the Neal Schon or the Axcess were either out of my price range or impossible to find. Then this dark beauty comes along. Thanks to Gibson and Zzounds my dreams of combining genuine Les Paul tone and feel with subtle to outrageous whammy bar antics are a reality! The tone and playability with this Studio is on par with my Standard. The floating trem is as solid and level as any I've played before. The dive bombs and pull ups are fluid and smooth and she returns to pitch perfectly. Yes, a Les Paul that actually stays in tune after bends and dives! The richlite fingerboard is essentially perfect. I had my reservations, but it's smooth and hard as ebony and the trapezoid inlays top it off nicely. The build quality I gave a 4/5 because there are a couple minor spots where the width of the neck isn't flush with the fretboard at the side dots and one of the trem's back cover plate screws missed the wood entirely. But honestly, these are very minor things that don't affect playability and don't bother me at all. The Grover tuners are a nice touch and the all black hardware on a black satin body is perfect. This guitar would easily fit well in a metal band or a blues gig and everything in between. The pickups are hot in the bridge and warm in the neck. Overall I give this guitar 5/5 stars. If it was a 10 point scale I'd give it a 9.5. Haven't needed to use manufacturer support. In a nutshell, it's a genuine Gibson Les Paul with a Floyd Rose double locking tremol and I love it! What more could you ask for?

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and have played and owned several brands through the years. zZounds finally made it possibly to own this great Gibson Les Paul. I gave this guitar five stars across the board because it deserves it. The sound is the primary reason I bought this guitar. Legendary Gibson Les Paul tones. Buttery smooth solos and a sound that is unmistakably a Les Paul. The sustain, feel and comfort are excellent and the weight is not bad. The fact that this Les Paul has a Floyd Rose is another strong reason I purchased this guitar. Right out of the box the setup was perfect and all the papers inside a beautiful case.If you've been thinking about buying this one, do yourself a favor and jump on it. This guitar will not disappoint or let you down.

It's a Gibson Les Paul With a Floyd ....... I can actually afford, What more could I say? I always been a Fender guy, But when I saw this guitar in this price range I jumped. Absolutely love the satin black finish ! Body and the neck are solid as a rock just as I expected. Electronic's volume pots and pickups? Garbage! I know pickups are just a matter of taste, but the Split volume pots and tone pots are complete junk! I replaced those parts with Les Paul standard parts and all is good with the world !!!

Thought I was getting a good quality Gibson guitar with a Floyd Rose. Well... found the lead/rythym switch selector washer in the case, which the case is beautiful, tuned it up, did a small dive then played a D chord and noticed it was all out of whack, I was like ok did I not tighten the locking nuts? Locking nuts were tight as far as they would tighten and then I turned the tuning pegs and noticed the strings were going higher. Not good. Sent it back immediately. The msrp on this thing is 2999.00, ... what? No way. Spend the extra $$$ and buy a Standard LP!! Good day!
