"2014 Gibson Custom lite ( Vintage Burst )"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Gibson brought back the "Lite" during 2013 and 2014 with a variety of style/colors and pricing. This one is the most expensive to date. These guitars just soak in Twang and I can hear many - no kidding, many country hits coming form these guitars. ( I now have three. I like the unique set-up of the 490R 490RT pick-ups and the ability to be closer to the string action with the curved body and of course they are lighter in weight. Gibson is ALWAYS a good buy value. I would be re-miss not to express my THANK YOU to Zzounds Music. This Company knows how to ship a guitar. Some others could learn from them, and they ARE THE MOST TIMELY...

Beautiful and so easy to play ! I like the neck better than my 2013 Standard. ( which I like a lot) It's such a well made instrument and has a lovely resonance even unplugged. The pickups are very quick, fat and responsive. And the single coil sounds are really good too- not thin or tinny as sometimes is the case. Light, comfortable and powerful. Did I mention a great price ? Wow !!!

"Great Price, Great Les Paul"

I had considered the Les Paul "Lite" models and was wavering between that for weight reasons, or a Les Paul Traditional or a Classic. But I decided to go ahead and try the 2014 LP Custom Classic Lite in vintage burst because they had one in stock on zZounds listed at a great sale price. It is a beautiful guitar and looks like a LP should, especially with the custom-style binding and gold hardware. I didn't know if I'd like the thinner body aesthetically, it really is the thinnest electric I own, but it really is fine visually, you can't tell from the front anyways, and the extra contour and light weight is super comfortable relative to a usual Les Paul body. I can't really notice a difference in tone - some have said maybe its more SG-ish, but in my opinion it sounds great, and enough like a higher end USA Les Paul should that you'd have to have a really astute ear to differentiate it. The coil split switch is functional, and the split sounds are good enough that you don't need to switch guitars for generic single coil parts. The brown and red case is beautiful too. There were only two setup issues with mine. The bridge was unscrewed and thus seated way too high, which is a trivial fix, but maybe that was why they priced it so low. Also I had some of the infamous LP tuning issues with the strings binding at the nut, especially the G-string. I used some pencil lead as a temporary fix and then ordered D'addario Planet Waves Lubrikit Friction Remover. That did the trick and now the tuning stability seems fine. Overall this was a great purchase for both the value, the uniqueness of the design, and I am loving the comfort-factor of the Lite. And it looks amazing!
