"The Best Guitar I've Ever Owned"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I have a number of guitars - Fender American Strat, Standard Telecaster, Epiphone Dot, etc. I bought my white Flying V mainly for it's looks (I've wanted one my whole life). I was not prepared for the fantastic tone, the ease of playing (what a fast neck!), and the light weight, which makes it very comfortable to play over a period of time. And surprise! It's as comfortable to play sitting This is the best guitar I have ever owned. I see myself keeping this one forever. And I just may start collecting Flying V's! They have beauty AND brains!
Sound
I love the sound of the Flying V! With proper tone adjustments on the guitar and the amp, you can play virtually every style of music - classic rock, country, blues, jazz, you name it. it's too bad these are branded as a heavy metal guitar - they have so much to offer. I'm used to the sound of a Fender Stratocaster, and by comparison, the V sounds much richer and fuller (dual coil pickups v single coil)
Features
The V has a wonderful combination of enough controls to shape the sound, yet not so many as to make things complicated. Perhaps the absence of a tremolo may be viewed by some as a feature that's lacking, but I never use them, so for me, that's not an issue.
Ease of Use
It's very easy to get the sounds you want. The separate volume control for each pickup, the single tone control, and the pickup selector are intuitive and easy to use. The action is fast. The neck is very comfortable. The Flying V is lighter than many guitars, so it is easier on the shoulders over an extended period of time.
Quality
My Flying V was perfect out of the case. Gibson really pays attention to detail on these. The paint job is flawless. The fretboard (ebony) is gorgeous.
Value
The Flying V is pricey for what you get. You are paying for the styling and the Gibson name. An Epiphone V, at about a 3rd of the price, would probably be close to the Gibson in many respects.
Manufacturer Support
No support issues, and I don't anticipate any.
The Wow Factor
The Flying V is the sexiest guitar ever made! Nothing comes close - not even the copies. I normally don't buy guitars based on how they look, but this one was like a siren song calling me. I could not resist!

"the sound..."

Sound
the sou8nd quality is surprisingly responsive and beuatiful to listen to for a high uotput pickup...it is compatable to styles of hard rock of the 60's 70's and blues...i dont know about the other genres...i just play blues and old-school stoner rock and stuff...it sounds best with a marshall...tried it with other amps and the difference is night and day...i have no feedback problems at all...i dont use too much distortion...that may be why... the sound is trebly and bright and the cleans are Ok and arent that great...the distortion with the 500t sounds TOO amazing...the excessive output sounds awesome at low gain levels...very classic rock sounding if you use them in the right manner.

Gibson VFactor X Flying V Customer Review

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm already wanting to get rid of it. I want a schecter pt custom. Bottom line I hate the neck, the sound is great though. And the quality control in my opinion "SUCKS" makes me pretty upset.
Sound
The sound is great, awesome tone
Features
real nice looking axe
Quality
Im gonna give this one a 6 because of the neck issues. I think the quality control is aweful. Cosmetic blemishes with the first one I ordered big time. Seems like this guitar will just get worse over time.
Value
I played a korean made schecter pt custom wich blows my v away in playability and features in my opinion, sad to say and half the price.
Manufacturer Support
I asked them a few simple questions wich they didn't answer they said ask my dealer. I am not happy with that response.
The Wow Factor
beautiful guitar but I have seen better and played better for less by far.
