Bought the Gibson Firebird V from zZounds about a month ago and haven't put it down since. Exceptional build quality, sound and iconic style make this my go-to guitar.
Sound
The sound overall is pretty good, although the pickups are a little hotter than I expected or wanted them to be, but mellow nicely with the volume knob. Sustain is excellent and a lot of tonal variation is available if you spend some time turning knobs. Fits really nicely in between my strat and les paul sounds.
Features
The most noticeable feature of this guitar are the addition if Steinberger fearless tuners in place of the traditional banjo style. This is the main point that prevented me from buying this guitar sooner but after some getting used to I can't rave about them enough. Extremely accurate, don't weigh the neck down and retain the overall loo of the older style banjos. Beyond the tuners, this guitar has a beautifully finished mahogany body with mahogany and walnut neck through construction with a really nice bound rosewood fretboard and high quality hardware throughout.
Ease of Use
This guitar has a super comfortable wide-flat neck feel that I really like. The flat radius makes bends extremely smooth without dropping out, but still makes chord work comfortable. As I mentioned before, pickups are a bit too hot for the blues I bought it for but as long as you're comfortable using the volume knob it stays manageable. Pickups definitely seem geared more toward the harder rock audience which is fine.
Quality
Built exactly how a Gibson ought to be, extremely high quality woods and hardware, obvious hand craftsmanship and great finish work. This guitar will outlast me, no question.
Value
Definitely worth the price, and I can't think of another manufacturer that can come close to the quality of this guitar
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with the manufacturer directly with this instrument but past contact has been professional and helpful.
The Wow Factor
There's really nothing like a Gibson Firebird, there's a vibe that's unmatchable and some distinct tones available. Any guitar can sound good at any price but vibe is hard to attain. This guitar has vibe to spare.

My wife purchased this guitar for me for Christmas. All I can say is WOW! I was a bit nervous about this guitar, but when I opened it and started playing, all those fears went away. The hybrid neck is fabulous. Overall, this guitar is a thing of beauty that sounds great and plays like a dream. I am a bigger guy and the size of the guitar is very comfortable. I love it!

If you are considering purchasing your first Firebird, and have little or no experience with them, understand this - they are nothing like any other guitar. The feel of the neck, the sustain, the ceramic mini-humbuckers, the tuners, even the reverse head stock changes the game. A Firebird is truly unique. If you get hooked on them, you won't want to play anything else. Good luck!
Sound
The ceramic mini humbuckers do their own thing. They don't sound like any other pickup I have have played.
Features
I have two of these, both made in 2013. Finish seemed a little sloppy, lots of clear coat which was piled up where it shouldn't be. I used 2000 grit wet sandpaper to buff it out. No big deal, but it should have been done at the factory. Lots of over spray.
Ease of Use
Nothing plays like a Firebird. If it is your thing, it rules.
Quality
Well made -this guitar was commensurate with a normal Gibson factory line guitar.
Value
Fairly priced, in my opinion.
Manufacturer Support
I have not deal with Gibson customer service.
The Wow Factor
Firebirds are awesome - if you like them, there is nothing else like them!

First the guys a ZZounds are great! Best price by far.The guitar is beautiful, but what's more important it sounds really good. It has a nice feel and the action is low and buzz free.
