I've owned mine for several years and it's turned out to be an extremely versatile lightweight guitar. I'm primarily a "Blues" player and the Blueshawk is definitely one of my favorites.
Quality
This is a good quality Gibson guitar.
Musical Background:
More that sixty years.
Musical Style:
Primarily Blues....but I've done most everything.

"As smooth as a glass of brandy, sustain for days, rich tones, this is the best guitar that gibson has ever made[sorry les paul]!!"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Price, quality, the incredible tone and sound that you can get from the blues hawk, its the best guitar i have ever owned and i have been playing the blues for 34 years!!!
Sound
Smooth as a glass of brandy!! I have had my blueshawk since 98 and i must say that the tone is incredible!!! Sustain for days, great action on the neck, and as smooth as silk on the fretboard!!! I used to play my a strat and my les paul to get different blues, jazz, rock sounds but,now the blueshawk is my main guitar[i now have purchased another blueshawk ]!! In my opinion this is the best guitar that gibson has ever made!!! TERRIFIC PRICE ALSO!!
Features
The varitone is where its at!! I can get a smooth humbucker sound, a strat sound and even a sound similar to a tele all in one guitar!!! I have not seen a guitar that can give me this many different sounds, with this quality,at this price!! Its a gibson!!!!
Quality
Beautifully made, extremely good quality! gibson has always stood behind there products[incredible customer service]!!! I wish that the guitar had better tuners though!! That is my only concern!
Value
This is the best value on the best guitar that gibson makes!period!
Manufacturer Support
Gibson is the best at taking care of there customers! My les pauls humbucker was shorting out and gibson had me to send it to them [ they paid for the shipping] I recieved my les back with a replaced humbucker that was better than the old one, it took about a week and a half!!
The Wow Factor
All you have to do is play this guitar once and you will immediately want it! Gibson now makes this model in a cherry sunburst which i would love to have, but i have 2 ebony models that you couldn't peel away from me! there like my other kids!

I own a Gibson Blues Hawk with a costom tremolo that was on it when I first saw the guitar. I was a new player at the time, and I could either get a guitar or an amp for my high school graduation. I saw this guitar and fell in love. I still to this day have never seen a guitar like it offered anywhere. The action is a little stiff, but this has been my experience with Gibson guitars, and it actually makes for less sloppy playing when you get used to it. The knobs and buttons and switches on it make for an easy transition to a number of versitile sounds. The only thing that I would say about this guitar on the negative side is that the electronics were beat up when I got it. The ciruitry to the high end pickup is shot, and makes cracking noises. This would make most people angry, but I have no problem in putting work into the guitars I own. If you are looking for a beautful guitar with a versitile sound and plays like a dream, your search has just ended.

"One of Gibson's Best That Didn't get the Publicity that it Truly Deserves?"

Will never sell this guitar. A player only buys more for the collection. Next guitar will be a Les Paul. This guitar is versitle for all styles but especially is best for blues and classic rock tunes. Would get another if this was broken or stolen. Like it best for tone control & then for it's light weight. Worst thing is outside finish but I knew that when I bought it. It's all about the sound.
Sound
The Sound is what you want to make it. This guitar has more tone control than most people know how to use. Only thing this doesn't have is that it Does Not have the sustain of a solid Les Paul.
This sounds sweet and mean hooked up with my Digitech GNX2 into my Kustom Amp.
Features
Tone Control is THE Feature you want this guitar for.
Quality
My black finish was not very good. Mine was a factory paint job reject and I knew that when I bought it. Besides this is not a piece of furniture. You will play this one alot. This guitar's sound sold itself. Have been playing this one since '97. Stays in tune very well. Light weight makes it easy to play all night at any gig.
This is a keeper and will last along time. Excellent Gibson quality is in this one.
Value
More bang for the buck. Worth every penny.
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with Gibson Company. Never had any repairs on this one in 7 years.
The Wow Factor
I don't think guitars are sexy. This guitar is light and very well made and is easy to play. Won't weight you down. Great looking guitar.
This is my main player over my Strat and acoustic. Used it on all songs and tracks for my first CD/Album.

Sound
The sound of it is wonderful if you like that"bluesey" sound. It was well beyond my expectations. It is the single main reason I have kept it.
Features
Th 6 position Varitone is a rael compliment to the guitar. Never experienced one before, but I sure do like it.
Quality
In size and feel it almost feels like a toy guitar. It's OK, but I've handled better. The neck feels like the neck of a LP studio guitar.
Value

"Love my Blueshawk!"
Sound
Tone is outstanding! Guitar snobs pay to much for higher priced Gibsons. This beauty is versatile and fun to play. You are never stuck with a niche guitar when you own a Blueshawk.

"Never get bored with tone tweeking"
Can't afford a collection? Just get this one!
Sound
Between the pickup selector and the varitone switch, you won't get bored with the huge variety of tones.Add any amp with a few different tones of it's own, and it's like having a rack of different instruments. Best at blues, classic rock, country
Features
One of these days I'll buy a hardshell case.....
Quality
Great intonation, great sustain, smooth finish (I got a blue one!). Binding on the neck would be a nice addition. Most that I've looked at have had loose pick ups.
Value
It seems to hit it's price point but skipping cosmetic frills (flamed top, fancy binding, etc) but keeping nice workmanship and tone.

The Wow Factor
A variation on the classic gibson look....you'll probably love it or hate it......until you love it for it's playability and tone
