If you are a gigging musicians who isn't playing arenas all the time this is a great amp to look at. Great sound portability and rugged construction make this a gigging musicians dream. Aside from the lack of an output control on the di I am able to do everything I need to with this amp to.
Sound
This little box rocks. It is very transparent and i can hear the individual characteristics of my different basses. I do also enjoy the warmer overdrive one can get from driving the tube preamp beyond it's clean setting. Overall a great sound and it's huge coming from a little 12" speaker. I have no problem handling lower notes on 5 string basses, and this little guy can handle some lows boosted.
Features
Most features one could need on a small portable amp. Loud, clean, consistent sound. The DI sounds great when recording in my studio, my only problem in the features department is that i wish it had a Gain/Volume for the DI output. Would just make dialing in the output volume to the studio easier. As is the line/mic switch works well and I get a great sound recording from this amp. The kickback feet on bottom to allow the amp to sit angled up is a blessing to a small amp. Makes life much easier on a loud stage when being used as a personal monitor.
Ease of Use
Not a lot of knobs on this baby. All the knobs do what they are supposed to do, and do it well. Hard to EQ this amp and make it sound bad. Carrying around all your gear in one trip is a great thing if you gig regularly. Often times when i gig I have to park quite a ways from the venue. This amp makes life easy from a portability standpoint. Removing the head from the combo is easy as can be. Requires no tools and well designed.
Quality
I got this item b-stock. I looked everywhere for a flaw of any sort on this amp and was unable to find one. I assume it had been returned because the original box looked like it had been opened once. Either way the covering on the amp is great. The metal grip protecting the speaker looks solid. FANTASTIC
Value
Some people may see a 12" combo amp in this price range and not even read into it. I must say that would be a mistake. You are paying the extra money for an extremely high quality amp. This amp sounds amazing as well. Portable and loud it won't replace an 8x10 on a large stage, but you could always pull the head out and put it on a larger stack for the times you need it. It's extremely rare i need anything larger than what this can handle and if you love good tone, spend the money.
Manufacturer Support
I called Genz Benz once to ask a few basic questions about warranty support and the like. First thing a human being answered the phone when I called. Major kudos for something as simple as this. Then after that she was extremely pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in making sure i was happy with the results of my call. I feel very comfortable owning this product after this exchange. As a side note, the owners manual is well put together and for simple confirmation as to the function of certain lights and knobs on the amp seems to have all the answers.
The Wow Factor
Lightweight loud and clean looking design, what's not sexy about it?

"Best Combo Amp I've used"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I bought this combo based on reviews in BassPlayer magazine and other websites. I use this combo for small to medium sized gigs and it can be heard....I'm really thinking about getting the 12 in ext cab for larger gigs (instead of rolling out my huge gear). Great for practice, recording and live use for duos or other intimate gig settings. I've been playing bass for 40 years and this is the best sounding combo I've ever used. Highly recommended!
