I'm an older guy who recorded on tape forever, and put off the DAW thing as long as possible, but it recently became a necessity. I have been pretty phobic about trying a nice usb interface such as this one because you never have to look very long to find complaints about driver issues with certain preamps, so I stuck with a cheep one until now. Not having enough inputs for what I was doing, I ordered this one from zZounds and it's a real champ. There were a few momentary issues with driver installation (which put my heart up into my throat), but the software corrected itself and it works and sounds great. The mix interface is easy to work with, and makes control so much easier than my cheep preamp. A very nice piece of equipment!

I got this unit because I really needed an interface that had the midi capability. Also, I needed an interface through which to play backing tracks from my computer. However, I was somewhat disappointed in how thin the sound was compared to my much cheaper M-Audio Fast Track, which I'm currently using on my gigs and very disappointed in the fact that the 6i6 is incompatible with my Vista Home Premium OS and the control software is not user friendly. I've not decided yet on whether or not I will keep the 6i6 as I have so much music and software on my laptop that I'm reluctant to change the OS. Also of note is the fact that the unit is not usb powered. Everything else about the 6i6 is excellent and so I would give it 4 stars overall.

I've had this product for less than a month, but so far it's working just fine. Ideal if you're only doing recording for up to two musicians at a time. I can't rate much at a 5 star, because I haven't used it enough yet.
